Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman pada siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar dalam menentukan ide pokok, menjawab pertanyaan, menuliskan informasi penting, dan menyusun simpulan. Dalam memecahkan masalah ini peneliti mencoba untuk melakukan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan menerapkan metode guided reading. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Model penelitian tindakan kelas yang digunakan adalah model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang dilakukan melalui langkah perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi pada setiap siklusnya. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilaksanakan disalah satu sekolah di Kota Bandung Kecamatan Sumur Bandung. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV yang berjumlah 33 orang siswa. Teknik yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah observasi, catatan lapangan dan tes. Data kualitatif dianalisis melalui prosedur reduksi data, display data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Sedangkan data kuantitatif dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik rata-rata dan persentase. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ada peningkatan pada kemampuan membaca pemahaman setelah diterapkannya metode guided reading. Nilai rata-rata siswa kelas IV pada siklus I yaitu 84 dengan persentase ketuntasan membaca pemahahaman sebesar 70% meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 92 dengan persentase ketuntasan sebesar 94%. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode guided reading dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar.

This research is motivated by the low reading comprehension ability of fourth-grade students in elementary school in determining main ideas, answering questions, writing important information, and drawing conclusions. In solving this problem researchers tried to conduct classroom action research (PTK) by applying the guided reading method. The purpose of this study was to improve the reading comprehension skills of grade IV elementary school students. The class action research model used is the Kemmis and McTaggart model which is carried out through the steps of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting on each cycle. This class action research was carried out in one school in Bandung City, Sumur Bandung District. The subjects of this study were fourth-grade students, totaling 33 students. The techniques used in this study were observation, field notes, and tests. Qualitative data is analyzed through data reduction procedures, data display, and conclusion drawing. While quantitative data were analyzed using average statistics and percentages. The results of this study showed an increase in reading comprehension ability after the guided reading method was applied. The average value of class IV students in the first cycle is 84 with the percentage of comprehension reading comprehension of a 70% increase in the second cycle to 92 with the percentage of completeness of 94%. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the guided reading method can improve the reading comprehension skills of grade IV elementary school students.
