    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas VIII sekolah menengah pertama pada topik sistem persamaan linear dua variabel berdasarkan tingkat kemampuan matematika siswa. Penelitian yang berjenis kualitatif dengan pendekatan naratif ini menyajikan hasil analisis dalam bentuk uraian kata berbentuk narasi mengenai kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa. Langkah-langkah dalam penelitian ini di antaranya adalah penyusunan instrumen bantu pengumpul data berupa instrumen tes dan wawancara, pemilihan subjek penelitian, penentuan tingkat kemampuan matematika siswa, tes kemampuan penalaran matematis dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan: (1) Siswa berkemampuan matematika tinggi memenuhi enam indikator kemampuan penalaran matematis. Ketika siswa berkemampuan matematika tinggi tidak memahami sebagian materi pada soal, siswa cenderung tetap bernalar matematis. (2) Siswa berkemampuan matematika sedang memenuhi enam indikator kemampuan penalaran matematis, dimana pada dua indikator di antaranya hanya dipenuhi oleh kurang dari setengah siswa sedangkan pada salah satu indikator lainnya hanya dipenuhi oleh sebagian kecil. Siswa berkemampuan matematika sedang cenderung tidak bernalar matematis ketika tidak memahami materi yang ditanyakan pada soal. (3) Siswa berkemampuan matematika rendah memenuhi empat indikator kemampuan penalaran matematis dimana sebagian kecil siswa melakukan kesalahan pada dua indikator dan hanya sebagian kecil siswa yang dapat memenuhi salah satu indikator lainnya. Siswa berkemampuan matematika rendah cenderung tidak bernalar matematis ketika tidak memahami materi yang ditanyakan pada soal.;---This study aims to analyze the mathematical reasoning ability of grade VIII students of junior high school on topic the system of linear equations of two variables based on the level of students' mathematical ability. This type of qualitative research with narrative approach presents the results of analysis in the form of narrative about students' mathematical reasoning abilities. The steps in this research include the preparation of auxiliary data collection instruments in the form of test and interview instruments, the selection of research subjects, the determination of the students' mathematical ability level, mathematical reasoning and interviewing test. The results of this study show: (1) Students with high math skills meet six indicators of mathematical reasoning ability. When students with high math skills do not understand some of the material on the subject, they tend to keep reasoning mathematically (2) Students with intermediate math skills meet six indicators of mathematical reasoning ability, where the two indicators are only met by less than half the students while on one other indicator is only fulfilled by a small part. Students with intermediate math skills tend not to reason mathematically when they do not understand the material in question. (3) Students with low math skills meet four indicators of mathematical reasoning ability in which a small percentage of students make mistakes on two indicators and only a small percentage of students can meet any of the other indicators. Students with low math skills tend not to reason mathematically when they do not understand the material in question.
