    Abstract

    Scientific creativity and communication skills are part of the 21st century skills that must be possessed of learners in order to compete with the global community. The purpose of this study is to identify the increase in scientific creativity and communication skills of students in the material structure of the earth using integrated based multimedia instruction (MBI2). MBI2 was selected because the media can combine synectics learning model, student’s worksheets, and computer animation about the structure of the earth which is real but difficult to observe directly. The method used is embedded mixed method using an experimental class. Subjects used are 35 learners from one junior high school in the city. The results showed that MBI2 can improve scientific creativity of students, indicated by the value of cohen's d (dRM) is 0.979 which termasik in the large category. The mean score of communication skills of students increases every meeting, the mean score for a meeting to communicate orally from one to four in a row is 8.400, 13.750, 14.833, 15.667 with a score range of 5-20. While the mean score of communicating consecutive posts are 6.310, 9.241, 11.207, 11.310 with a score range 4-16. Through these data we can conclude that MBI2 can improve scientific creativity and communication skills of learners.----

    Kreativitas ilmiah dan keterampilan berkomunikasi merupakan bagian dari keterampilan abad ke-21 yang harus dimiliki peserta didik agar dapat bersaing dengan masyarakat global. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi peningkatan kreativitas ilmiah dan keterampilan berkomunikasi peserta didik dalam materi struktur bumi menggunakan multimedia based integrated instruction (MBI2). MBI2 dipilih karena media ini dapat memadukan antara model pembelajaran sinektik, lembar kerja peserta didik, serta animasi terkait dengan materi struktur bumi yang bersifat riil namun sulit diamati secara langsung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah embedded mixed method menggunakan satu kelas eksperimen. Subjek penelitian yang digunakan adalah 35 orang peserta didik dari salah satu SMP di kota Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa MBI2 dapat meningkatan kreativitas ilmiah peserta didik, ditunjukkan dengan nilai cohen’s d (dRM) yaitu 0,979 yang termasik dalam kategori besar. Rerata skor keterampilan berkomunikasi peserta didik meningkat setiap pertemuannya, rerata skor berkomunikasi lisan untuk pertemuan satu sampai empat berturut-turut adalah 8,400, 13,750, 14,833, 15,667 dengan rentang skor 5-20. Sedangkan rerata skor berkomunikasi tulisan berturut turut adalah 6,310, 9,241, 11,207, 11,310 dengan rentang skor 4-16. Melalui data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa MBI2 dapat meningkatkan kreativitas ilmiah dan keterampilan berkomunikasi peserta didik.
