Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan abstraksi dan self-efficacy matematis dan fakta rendahnya kemampuan abstraksi dan self-efficacy matematis siswa SMP. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan abstraksi matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika dengan pembelajaran berbasis-masalah dan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika dengan pembelajaran langsung; (2) mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan self-efficacy matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika dengan pembelajaran berbasis-masalah dan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika dengan pembelajaran langsung; (3) mengetahui hubungan antara self-efficacy dan kemampuan abstraksi matematis siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi-eksperimen, dengan desain kelompok kontrol non-ekuivalen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII salah satu sekolah menengah pertama (SMP) negeri di Kabupaten Ciamis, tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Penentuan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas dua kelas. Satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis-masalah dan satu kelas sebagai kelas kontrol menggunakan pembelajaran langsung. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan abstraksi matematis, angket self-efficacy matematis, lembar observasi aktivitas guru, dan lembar observasi aktivitas siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan abstraksi matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran berbasis-masalah dan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran langsung; (2) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan self-efficacy matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran berbasis-masalah dan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran langsung; (3) terdapat hubungan antara self-efficacy dan kemampuan abstraksi matematis siswa.;---This research is motivated by the fact that mathematical abstraction ability and self-efficacy are important but both ability are still low in junior highschool students. The purpose of this research are: (1) to analyze the students’ enhancement in mathematical abstraction ability who received problem-based learning and direct learning; (2) to analyze the students’ enhancement in mathematical self-efficacy who received problem-based learning and direct learning; (3) determine the relation between students’ mathematical self-efficacy and abstraction ability. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental with non-equivalent control group design. The population in this research are all 8th grade students in one of junior high school in Ciamis, academic year 2016/2017. The determination of sample is done by purposive sampling technique. The research sample consisted of two classes. One class as an experimental class used problem-based learning and one class as a control class used direct learning. This research data is obtained through mathematical abstraction ability test, mathematical self-efficacy questionnaire, teacher activity observation sheet, and students activity observation sheet. The result of the research show that (1) there was a difference enhancement of mathematical abstraction ability between students who received problem-based learning and students who received direct learning; (2) there was a difference enhancement of mathematical self-efficacy between students who received problem-based learning and students who received direct learning; (3) there was a relations between students’ mathematical self-efficacy and abstraction ability.
