Abstract
This research which is entitled “Enhancement of Student’s Mathematical Communication Ability used Discovery Learning Model assisted by Information and Communication Technology (ICT)” is caused by the importance of mathematical communication ability in learning math and lack of mathematical communication ability in junior high school students. This research aims at discovering the comparison of mathematical communication’s achievements between the students who receive discovery learning model assisted by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the students who receive ordinary learning model. This research was conducted at Junior High School in Bandung with eighth graders as the participants on relation and fuction topic. This research used quasi-experimental method with test instrument. It was found that the enhancement of student’s mathematical communication ability in the class that get discovery learning model assisted by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is higher than the class that get conventional learning model with the enchancement quality is the medium. ----- Penelitian dengan judul “Peningkatan Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis Siswa Melalui Model Discovery Learning Berbantuan Information and Communication Technology (ICT)” ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis dalam pembelajaran matematika dan fakta rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP. Adapun penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis antara siswa yang memperoleh model discovery learning berbantuan ICT dengan siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran biasa serta kualitasnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung dengan materi relasi dan fungsi. Metode penelitian yang dipilih adalah kuasi eksperimen dan instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis pada kelas yang mendapatkan model discovery learning berbantuan Information and Communication Technology (ICT) lebih tinggi daripada kelas yang model pembelajaran biasa dengan kualitas peningkatannya adalah sedang.
