Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV SDN SKJ Kota Bandung. Hal ini dikarenakan pembelajaran yang dilakukan masih menerapkan metode ceramah dan belum melibatkan siswa secara aktif dalam pembelajarannya. Penilitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penerapan metode PQ4R untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV SDN SKJ Bandung. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas Model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Tindakan dilakukan dua siklus, setiap siklusnya terdiri dari empat tahap penelitian yaitu: perencanaan, pelaksanaaan tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV SDN SKJ Kota Bandung. Pada pra siklus nilai rata-rata berada pada angka 48 dengan persentase kelulusan 19%. Nilai rata-rata pada siklus I adalah 66 dengan persentase kelulusan 52%. Pada Siklus II nilai rata-rata mengalami peningkatan menjadi 79 dengan persentase kelulusan mencapai 85%. Berdasarkan data tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode PQ4R dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa.----------This study is motivated by low reading comprehension skill on 4 th grade student of public elementary school in Bandung.The low ability of reading comprehension is due to the class process that still apply the talk method and does not actively involve students in learning process. This study aims to describe the application of PQ4R method to improve reading comprehension ability of 4 th grade elementary school students. This study has been done by using Research Method of Class Action Model of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. The method is done by two cycles, each cycle consists of four stages of research, which are: planning, execution of action, observation and reflection. The result showed an enhancement in reading comprehension skills of fourth grade public school SKJ in Bandung. In the pre-cycle the average score is 48 with the percentage of passing the test is 19%. The average score in first cycle was 66 with 52% who pass the test. In second cycle the score increased to 79 with the percentage of passing the test reaching 85%. Based on the data, the conclusion is the application of PQ4R method can improve student’s reading comprehension.
