Abstract

Penelitian ini berangkat dari ditemukan banyak siswa SMA yang kesulitan dalam mempelajari teori-teori evolusi karena tidak sesuai dengan keyakinan agama yang diyakininya. Sementara banyak siswa lain yang dapat memahami teori-teori evolusi meskipun mereka tidak meyakininya. Menurut Cobern dalam Herman (2012) siswa dapat memisahkan apa yang mereka percaya dari apa yang tidak mereka percaya dalam proses yang disebut cognitive apartheid. Sebuah penelitian deskriptif dilakukan di SMAN 3 Cimahi untuk mengungkap cognitive apartheid siswa pada saat mempelajari materi teori-teori evolusi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang kemampuan cognitive apartheid siswa pada saat memahami teori-teori evolusi, Mengetahui hubungan cognitive apartheid dengan penguasaan konsep teori evolusi siswa, dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi cognitive apartheid siswa. Data cognitive apartheid dijaring menggunakan instrumen tulis yang dikembangkan dari penelitian Herman (2012) untuk mengukur cognitive apartheid siswa. Penelitian ini melibatkan 40 siswa kelas XII MIPA yang ditentukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cognitive apartheid siswa termasuk pada kriteria yang baik (77,83%), Namun, cognitive apartheid siswa memiliki hubungan yang sangat rendah dengan penguasaan konsep teori-teori evolusi siswa. Beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi cognitive apartheid siswa adalah sikap siswa terhadap evolusi, pengetahuan teori evolusi siswa, dan keyakinan agama. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, diketahui bahwa tinggi rendahnya cognitive apartheid siswa tidak akan berdampak pada proses belajar siswa pada materi teori evolusi, Kata kunci: cognitive apartheid, instrumen tulis, teori-teori evolusi, purposive, This research departs from found many high school students who have difficulty in studying the theories of evolution because it is not in accordance with religious beliefs that are believed.While many other students can understand the theories of evolution even though they do not believe it. A descriptive study was conducted at SMAN 3 Cimahi to uncover students' cognitive apartheid while studying the theories of evolutionary theories. The purpose of this study was to obtain information about students 'cognitive apartheid ability at the time of understanding the theories of evolution, Knowing the relationship of cognitive apartheid with the mastery of students' evolutionary theory concepts, and factors affecting cognitive apartheid students. The cognitive apartheid data was collected using a written instrument developed from Herman's (2012) study to measure students' cognitive apartheid. This research involves 40 students of class XII MIPA which is determined by purposive sampling technique. The results showed that cognitive apartheid students included on good criteria (77.83%), however, cognitive apartheid students had very low relationships with mastery of the concepts of student evolutionary theories. Some of the factors that affect students' cognitive apartheid are students' attitudes toward evolution, knowledge of students' evolutionary theories, and religious beliefs.Based on the results of research that has been done, it is known that low or high level of cognitive apartheid students will not affect to the student learning process on the material of evolutiontheory.
