Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan menulis karangan deskripsi. Siswa tidak dibiasakan menulis dengan ejaan dan tanda baca yang tepat. Cara guru mengajar masih konvensional yaitu menjelaskan singkat dan langsung menugaskan siswa membuat karangan, sehingga siswa kesulitan menuangkan idenya ke dalam tulisan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan model picture and picture dalam menulis karangan deskripsi dan meningkatkan keterampilan menulis karangan. Keterampilan menulis deskripsi dengan model picture and picture merupakan kemampuan menulis yang memerlukan latihan dengan gambar sebagai media untuk membantu siswa menggambarkan suatu objek ke dalam tulisan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas dengan model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart yang terdiri dari dua siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SDN Sukajadi 9 berjumlah 27 orang dengan instrumen berupa lembar kerja siswa, lembar observasi kegiatan guru dan siswa, dan lembar catatan lapangan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dalam menulis karangan deskripsi menggunakan model picture and picture pembelajaran menjadi lebih menarik serta membantu siswa menuangkan ide dan gagasannya ke dalam tulisan. Hasil penelitian ini juga meningkat dengan adanya peningkatan nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh tiap siklusnya dari 65,05 menjadi 80,55.;---This research is based on the low skill of writing the description essay. Students are not accustomed to writing with proper spelling and punctuation. The way the teacher is still conventional teaching is to explain briefly and directly assign students to make essays, so that students have difficulty pouring ideas into writing. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of the picture and picture model in writing essay description and improve the skill of writing the essay description.. The skill of writing descriptions using the picture and picture model is a writing skill that requires practice with images as a medium to help students describe an object into writing. The research method used is classroom action research with Kemmis and Mc Taggart model consisting of two cycles. The subjects of this study are the fourth grade students of SDN Sukajadi 9 amounting to 27 people with the instrument in the form of student worksheet, observation sheet of teacher and student activities, and field note sheet. Based on the results of research in writing essay description using picture and picture model of learning becomes more interesting and help students put their ideas and ideas into writing. The results of this study also increased with an increase in the average value obtained each cycle from 65.05 to 80.55.
