Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan prinsip-prinsip pendekatan matematika realistik dan peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dengan penerapan pendekatan matematika realistik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan mangadaptasi model dari Kemmis & Taggart yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas III semester genap di salah satu SD Negeri di Kota Bandung tahun ajaran 2016/2017 dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 31 orang, dengan karakteristik dan kemampuan yang berbeda-beda. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menerapkan prinsip-prinsip pendekatan matematika realistik yaitu 1) Guided Re-Invention, 2) Progressive Mathematization, 3) Didactic Phenomenology, dan 4) Self Developed Models. Hasil dari siklus 1 menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata pemahaman konsep matematis mencapai 67,25% dengan kategori cukup, sedangkan hasil siklus 2 menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata pemahaman konsep matematis mencapai 95,25% dengan kategori sangat baik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan matematika realistik dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas III sekolah dasar. This study aims at determining the application of realistic mathematica education principal and improving student realistic mathematical action. Research method used Classroom Action Research by adapting Kemmis & Taggart’s model which implemented in two cycles. The subject of this research is the third grade student at one of elementary school in Bandung with 31 students with different characteristic and abilities. This research is conducted by applying realistic mathematics education which consist of four principles which is 1) Guided Re-Invention, 2) Progressive Mathematization, 3) Didactic Phenomenology, dan 4) Self Developed Models. The result of first cycle show the mean of mathematical concept understanding reached 67,25% with pretty good category and the result of second cycle show the mean of mathematical concept understanding reached 95,25% with very good category. Based on the results of this research it can be concluded that the application of realistic mathematic education can improve the mathematical concept understanding of third grade students of elementary school.
