Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan yang dialami oleh siswa dalam pembelajaran menulis cerpen di kelas XI. Permasalahan tersebut meliputi kesulitan siswa dalam menentukan ide cerita, mengembangkan cerita, dan tidak tertariknya siswa terhadap menulis cerpen. Oleh karena itu, peneliti mengujicobakan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek pada pembelajaran menulis cerpen di kelas XI. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu eeksperimen kuasi dengan pendekaytan kuantitatif. Tahapan penelitian dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap, yaitu tes awal, memberikan perlakuan, dan memberikan tes akhir. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIA E dan XI MIA F MAN 1 Bandung tahun ajaran 2016-2017. Data yang digunakan untuk melihat tingkat keberhasilan model pembelajaran yang diujicobakan adalah cerpen karya siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen meningkat setelah mendapatkan perlakuan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek. Nilai rata-rata tes awal adalah 64, kemudian meningkat pada tes akhir menjadi 80. Artinya kemampuan menulis siswa kelas eksperimen mengalami pengingkatan yang cukup signifikan. Sedangkan nilai rata-rata pada kelas kontrol juga meningkat akan tetapi tidak terlalu signifikan. Nilai rata-rata tes awal adalah 64, kemudian meningkat pada tes akhir 70. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran berbasis proyek efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran menulis cerpen. Kata kunci: menulis, teks cerpen, pembelajaran berbasis proyek Problems experienced by the 11th grade students when learning to write short stories has become the major motivation of this research paper. The problems faced are include the student’s difficulty in determining ideas, developing the story, and lack of interests to write for short story. Considering the problems that has been stated above, the researchers have been keen to test the model of learning how to write short story based on project method. The method used in this research is quasi experiment with quantitative approach. This research will also be carried out along with several stages, starting from giving the pre-test, providing treatment, and delivering the post-test. The subjects of this research are the student in XI MIA E class and XI MIA F class, 2016-2017 period, in MAN 1 Bandung. Moreover, the tools that has been applied to measure the success rate of learning models that have been examined is the subjects’ works on short stories. Based on this paper conclusion, the result has showed that the mean score of the experimental class is increasing after getting the treatment using project-based learning model. the mean score of pre-test is 64, and then it greatly increased by 80 in the post-test. This means that the ability of students to write in experimental class in remarkably rising. While the mean score of the controlled class is as well being escalated, the rate is not as significant as compared to the experimental class. The mean score of the pre-test for controlled class in 64, before it then increased by 70 in the post-test. In conclusion, it can be seen that the project-based learning model has been effectively used in teaching student how to write a short stories.
