Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi dari ketertarikan peneliti akan apresiasi dunia pendidikan terhadap seni kontemporer Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemahaman guru seni rupa mengenai seni rupa kontemporer Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Data premier dan sekunder diperoleh langsung dari hasil observasi dan wawancara kepada sumber, yaitu guru seni rupa di beberapa SMA di Bandung. Data yang dicari dalam penelitian ini difokuskan pada konsep, bentuk, jenis, dan media seni kontemporer yang sedang bekembang dan dipahami oleh guru seni rupa. Analisis data yang didapatkan didiskusikan dalam bentuk pemaparan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, pemahaman guru seni rupa tingkat SMA terhadap perkembangan seni kontemporer di Bandung sangatlah beragam. Meskipun secara garis besar mereka memahami, namun tidak semua mengaplikasikannya dikelas, Hal ini bergantung pada perbedaan latar belakang pendidikan dan pengalaman dari guru seni yang bersangkutan. Selain itu, motivasi guru dalam mencari informasi perkembangan seni, juga kebijakan sekolah Kata Kunci : Seni Kontemporer, pemahaman guru seni rupa, perkembangan seni Kontemporer Bandung This research is mainly derived from the researcher’s concern on the students’ appreciation to the contemporary arts as a form of arts developments. This research is aimed at investigating the arts-teachers’ understanding on the natures of contemporary arts. Qualitative – Descriptive method is employed in obtaining the data used in this research. The main data is gained through observation and interviews to the arts teacher. However, this research is focused on providing information to answer the research questions, which are related to the concept, forms, kinds, and media used in contemporary arts. The data analysis is discussed in the form of elaboration, comprehension, and comparing the data and the theories. Based on the data investigation, it is found that arts teachers’ understanding, in high school level in Bandung, on the contemporary arts development is varied. This is because the differences both knowledge and experiences that the arts teachers had. Moreover school policies and also the teachers’ motivation on arts also play a big role to the development of contemporary arts in schools. The results of this research are hoped to give a very useful contribution to the next researchers, who are also interested in discussing the same field of the subject. For that reason, the developments of arts in educational institution would be better in the future.
