Abstract
Penelitian ini termotivasi dari penelitian yang dilakukan oleh Jupri, dkk. (2014) yang meneliti kesulitan siswa dalam pembelajaran aljabar awal. Menurut Jupri, dkk. (2014) Aljabar merupakan salah satu materi yang sulit dielajari oleh sebagian siswa. Kesulitan yang dialami siswa diduga dari pertama kali siswa belajar aljabar. Dalam kurikulum matematika untuk tingkat sekolah menengah aljabar pertama kali dipelajari oleh siswa pada kelas VII SMP di semester satu yaitu pada pokok bahasan bentuk aljabar. Sehingga peneliti memandang perlu untuk menyelidiki miskonsepsi siswa pada pokok bahasan bentuk aljabar serta penyebab miskonsepsi tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi kasus dengan subyek penelitian 52 siswa kelas VII SMP negeri dan SMP swasta. Instrument yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes tertulis, wawancara siswa dan guru, analisis buku paket, serta analisis RPP (Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran). Berdasarkan hasil tes tertulis dan wawancara siswa ditemukan beberapa miskonsepsi siswa pada pokok bahasan bentuk aljabar yaitu: Miskonsepsi pada bidang Aritmetika, variabel, ekspresi aljabar, dan matematisasi. Berdasarkan wawancara guru, analisis buku paket, dan analisis RPP ditemukan penyebab miskonsepsi yang dilakukan siswa pada pokok bahasan bentuk aljabar yaitu: Kemampuan Prasyarat siswa yang kurang; Variasi contoh dan soal berkenaan dengan suku sejenis yang minim; Pembelajaran kurang komprehensif; pengenalan yang bukan variabel tidak dikaitkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari; materi tidk disajikan sesuai dengan porsinya. ;--- This research is motivated by research conducted by Jupri, et al. (2014) who examine student difficulties in early algebra learning. According to Jupri, et al. (2014) Algebra is one of the topic that is difficult to learn by many students. Difficulties experienced by students allegedly from the first time students learn algebra. In the math curriculum for high school level algebra was first studied by students in the seventh grade of junior high school in the first semester that is on the subject of algebraic form. So we consider it necessary to investigate student misconception on the topic of algebraic form and the cause of the misconception. This research used a case study research involving 52 grade VII students of state and private junior high school. Instruments used in this study are written tests, student and teacher interviews, textbook analysis, and teaching plan analysis. Based on the results of written tests and interviews students found some misconception of students on the topic of algebraic form are: Misconception on the field of arithmetic, variables, algebraic expression, and matematization. Based on teacher interview, textbook analysis, teaching plan analysis found the cause of misconception by students on the topic of algebraic expressions are: Ability prerequisites of student who are less; variations of example and questions concerning similar tribes are minor; less comprehensive learning; non-variable recognition is not linked in daily life; the presented of topic are not accordance with the portion.
