Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh aktivias diskusi siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar yang belum sesuai dengan yang semestinya karena masih terlihat hanya beberapa siswa yang berkemampuan kognitif tinggi saja yang mendominasi jalannya aktivitas diskusi, sedangkan siswa yang lain hanya mengikuti pendapat temannya tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan aktivitas diskusi kelompok pada siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar dalam pembelajaran IPA melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Students Team Achievement Divisons. Selain itu, peneliti juga menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas diantaranya perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan dan refleksi yang dilaksanakan sebanyak dua siklus penelitian. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV Sekolah Dasar sebanyak 20 siswa. Setelah diteliti berdasarkan penelitian tindakan kelas, siklus I hanya mencapai 56,87% dan pada siklus II meningkat hingga mencapai 80,25%. Hal ini dikarenakan 85% dari 20 siswa aktivitas diskusi kelompoknya sudah meningkat dibandingkan dengan sebelumnya. Berdasarkan hal itu, penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dapat meningkatkan aktivitas diskusi kelompok pada pembelajaran IPA di SD.;---This research is motivated by the fact that most of fourth grade discussion activity dominated only by students with high cognitive capability. Meanwhile the other students just agreeing to whatever those students with high cognitive capability said and done. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to improve group discussion activities on science learing for fourth grade students using cooperative learning model with Students Team Achievement Divisions. This research also used classroom action research methods that include planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation that divided into two cycles. Subject to this research were 20 fourth grade students. After some time, results from first cycle that inly cover 56.87% improved to 80.25% on the second cycle. This, prior to 85% of those 20 students that already had better group discussion than the previous cycle. Based on all of that, implementation of cooperative learning model with STAD is recommended to improve students group discussion activities on science learning in primary schools.
