Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil kreativitas dan peningkatan penguasaan konsep siswa SMP pada pembelajaran IPA berbasis STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Penelitian ini melibatkan sampel sebanyak 34 orang siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP swasta di Kota Bandung. Kreativitas siswa diukur dalam tiga elemen yakni keterampilan berpikir kreatif yang diukur menggunakan instrumen Torrance Test of Creative Thinking; proses kreatif yang diukur dari keterampilan siswa dalam mendesain produk; serta produk kreatif yang dinilai dari produk kincir angin yang dibuat oleh siswa berdasarkan desain yang dibuat sebelumnya. Kreativitas yang dimaksud adalah pada aspek fluency, flexibility, originality, dan elaboration. Rata-rata keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa untuk aspek fluency, flexibility, originality, dan elaboration berturut-turut adalah 2,63 ; 2,92; 2,77 dan 2,63. Selama pembelajaran berlangsung, rata-rata kreativitas desain siswa pada aspek fluency, flexibility, originality, dan elaboration berturut-turut adalah 3,32; 2,82; 2,60 dan 2,80. Rata-rata kreativitas produk siswa dalam membuat kincir angin adalah 2,90 untuk aspek flexibility; 2,72 untuk aspek originality dan 3,31 untuk aspek elaboration. Rekapitulasi pengukuran kreativitas pada ketiga elemen tersebut menunjukkan bahwa 16.67% siswa tergolong kedalam kelompok yang kreatif, dan 83.33% tergolong kedalam kelompok yang cukup kreatif. Sedangkan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi energi diukur menggunakan instrumen pilihan ganda berjumlah 9 butir soal. Peningkatan penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi energi setelah diterapkan pembelajaran IPA berbasis STEM dapat dikatakan masih rendah dengan nilai n-gain sebesar 0.297. Namun hasil ini sudah menunjukkan nilai yang signifikan secara statistik dengan rata-rata peningkatan skor setiap siswa dari pretest ke posttest adalah sebesar 20,74 poin. Desain pembelajaran IPA berbasis STEM ini masih perlu dioptimalkan terutama pada langkah-langkah atau cara-cara yang dapat ditempuh dalam menanamkan konsep kepada siswa. ; ---- This research aims to identify the profile of students creativity and concept mastery of junior high school students at energy topic in STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) science learning. Design-experimental research is used to 8th grade student in one of private junior high school in Bandung as a subject of research. The sample was taken using convenience sampling method (n=34). Creativity of students is measured in three dimensions, namely creative thinking skills which assessed using Torrance Test of Creative Thinking; the creative process which measured from student ability to design wind turbine; as well as the creative product which rated from wind turbine made by students. While the students' mastery of energy concepts are assessed through objective test. Creativity is assessed under 4 aspects of fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration. The result shows that the average creative thinking skills scoring of students was 2.69 for fluency; 2.93 for flexibility; 2.78 to 2.61 for originality and elaboration. During the learning takes place, the average student creativity design is 3,32 for fluency; 2,82 for flexibility; 2,60 for originality and 2.80 for elaboration, and the average student creativity product in making wind turbine is 2.90 for flexibility; 2.72 for originality and 3.31 for elaboration. Summary of creativity scoring indicate that 16.67% students are classified into creative group and 83.33% students classified into sufficient. Student improvement in mastering energy concept can be said is still low by n-gain value of 0,297. However, these results have shown statistically significant values with an average score of each student improvement from pretest to posttest amounted to 20.74 point. STEM-based science learning design which have been implemented still needs to be optimized especially on the steps that can be taken in instilling the concept to students.
