Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil model mental siswa dan memperoleh miskonsepi siswa pada submateri asam basa (konsep asam basa Arrhenius, konsep asam basa Brӧnsted-Lowry, dan kekuatan asam basa) dengan menggunakan TDM-IAE. Penelitian dilakukan di salah satu SMA di Kota Bandung dengan enam orang siswa kelas XII IPA sebagai subjek penelitiannya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dengan instrumen penelitian berupa Tes Diagnostik Model Mental Interview-About-Event (TDM-IAE). Hasil penelitian berupa jawaban siswa dibuat pola tertentu sehingga diperoleh profil model mental siswa. Berdasarkan pola tersebut, profil model mental siswa pada submateri asam basa ditemukan 4 tipe model mental, yaitu model mental tipe 1 dengan kategori 1a (jawaban siswa benar tanpa pertanyaan probing) dan kategori 1b (jawaban siswa benar dengan pertanyaan probing), model mental tipe 2 (jawaban siswa benar sebagian), model mental tipe 3 (jawaban siswa salah), dan model mental tipe 4 (tidak ada jawaban). Berdasarkan profil model mental siswa tersebut diperoleh beberapa temuan terkait miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa pada submateri asam basa yaitu semua zat yang terdapat atom H pada rumus kimianya merupakan asam Arrhenius, semua zat yang terdapat gugus OH pada rumus kimianya merupakan basa Arrhenius, transfer proton pada reaksi asam basa Brӧnsted-Lowry terjadi dari asam ke basa konjugasinya atau dari basa ke asam konjugasinya, tanda panah reaksi pada reaksi ionisasi sempurna dan reaksi ionisasi sebagian sama, partikel zat terlarut yang terdapat pada zat yang hanya terionisasi sebagian hanya ion-ionnya saja (tidak ada molekul). Kata Kunci : profil model mental, TDM-IAE, asam basa, miskonsepsi. This study aims to obtain mental models and misconception of acid base especially in Arrhenius concept of acid base, Brӧnsted-Lowry concept of acid base, and acid and base strength with TDM-IAE. This study was conducted in one Senior High School in Bandung with six 12th grade students as the research subjects. The method used in this research is descriptive with diagnostic mental models test Interview About Event (IAE). The results is a pola which describe students mental models profile from their answer. The polas showed that students have 4 types of mental models. The 4 types of students’ mental models are mental models type 1 with category 1a (students answer correctly without probing question) and category 1b (students answer correctly with probing question), mental models type 2 (students answer partially correct), mental models type 3 (students answer wrongly), and mental models type 4 (no response). Based on the students’ mental models profile, some students’ misconception were found: any substance that contains H atoms is an Arrhenius acid, any substance that contains OH molecule is an Arrhenius base, proton transfer in Brӧnsted-Lowry reaction of acid base occurred from acid to its base conjugate and from base to its acid conjugate, chemical arrows in complete ionization and partial ionization were same, there’s no molecule left behind in solution of substance which occurred partial ionization.
