Abstract

Studi kasus pembelajaran sains sekolah dasar ini dilaksanakan di kelas lima SD GagasCeria, Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan sejauh mana prinsip hakikat sains terefleksikan dalam perencanaan dan pembelajaran di kelas, pandangan guru tentang sains dan pembelajarannya, serta pandangan dan harapan kepala sekolah tentang pembelajaran sains. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi dokumen rancangan pembelajaran, pandangan guru tentang sains dan pembelajarannya, rekaman aktivitas pembelajaran, dan pandangan kepala sekolah tentang pembelajaran secara umum serta harapannya berkaitan dengan pembelajaran sains di sekolah ini. Ditinjau dari tujuan utama pembelajaran sains, ide-ide awal dari anak tentang sains yang dipicu konteks masalah pembelajaran kreasi guru, dapat tereksplor dengan baik ditunjukkan melalui jawaban atas pertanyaan yang diajukan guru serta kesimpulan atau pernyataan anak atas masalah yang sedang dikaji. Fenomena sains yang ditampilkan guru disertai strategi bertanya bersifat mengarahkan dan mengeksplorasi, membantu anak memaknai konsep serta proses sains dengan baik. Keterampilan proses sains serta nilai-nilai yang dikembangkan melalui pembelajaran berkembang dengan baik pada permasalahan bersifat kaya konteks. Penelitian ini berhasil mengidentifikasi tujuh aspek hakikat sains dalam pembelajaran, walaupun kedalaman serta keutuhan aspek hakikat sains masih perlu dikembangkan lebih lanjut. Hasil penelitian juga menyimpulkan bahwa masih diperlukan upaya lebih progresif berkenaan dengan pengetahuan sains untuk kepentingan pembelajaran menuju keyakikan guru tentang sains dan pembelajarannya. Kualitas pembelajaran sains dalam sudut pandang hakikat sains sangat erat kaitannya dengan sistem keyakinan guru tentang sains dan pembelajarannya. _ ; _ A case study on science teaching at GagasCeria Primary School was implemented at the fifth grade of the School. This study aims at figuring out the implementation of the NOS principles on lesson plans and science teaching at the school, the teacher views regarding science and its instruction, and principle vies relating to curriculum policy and science instruction. The data used in the study comprise lesson plan documentation, teacher’s view toward the nature of science and its teaching, videos of science teaching activities, and principle’s view on teaching in general as well as on science teaching. Based on the science teaching goals, initial students’ ideas regarding science initiated by teaching material developed by the teacher, could be explored effectively through their answers and explanations to the problem presented. Science phenomena presented by the teacher accompany with leading and exploring questions used, can helped students to get better science meaning and its processes. Science skills and its values developed together with the process of the teaching were well developed through the use of rich contextual teaching materials. This study also identified seven aspects of the Nature of Science, although the unity of NOS principles implementation, still need to be developed accordingly. The study also found that teachers still need to develop their belief system progressively toward science and its teaching and learning.
