Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa. Permasalahan tersebut didasari oleh data awal yang didapatkan dari hasil observasi yang menunjukkan bahwa motivasi belajar siswa masih rendah. Penelitian ini meneliti tentang penerapan metode eksperimen. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode eksperimen dan mendeskripsikan peningkatkan motivasi belajar IPA pokok bahasan energi panas siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Pelaksanaan penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode PTK (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas) dengan model penelitian spiral dari Kemmis dan Taggart yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas IV SD di salah satu sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Sukasari, Kota Bandung dengan mengambil data berjumlah 8 orang siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket, observasi dan catatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian dari siklus I didapatkan rata-rata motivasi belajar siswa sebesar 57,34%, rata-rata motivasi belajar siswa pada siklus II sebesar 84,19%. Berdasarkan data tersebut, maka penerapan metode eksperimen dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar IPA pokok bahasan energi panas siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Maka disarankan kepada guru kelas untuk selanjutnya dapat menerapkan metode eksperimen untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Kata kunci: penerapan metode eksperimen, motivasi belajar, siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. This research is motivated by the lack of student motivation. The problem is based on the preliminary data obtained from the observations indicate that student motivation is low. This study examines the application of the experimental method. The purpose of this study was to describe the application of experimental methods and increasing the motivation to learn science describe the subject of the thermal energy of fourth grade students of elementary school. Research was conducted using the method of CAR (Class Action Research) with a research model spiral of Kemmis and Taggart conducted in two cycles with research subjects students fourth grade in one elementary school in District Sukasari, Bandung by taking the data amounted to 8 students. Data collection techniques used were questionnaires, observations and field notes. The results of the first cycle obtained an average student motivation amounted to 57.34%, the average student motivation on the second cycle of 84.19%. Based on these data, the application of the experimental method can increase motivation to learn science the subject of heat energy elementary school fourth graders. It is advisable to classroom teachers to subsequently be able to apply the experimental method to increase students' motivation.
