Abstract

Penelitian ini di latar belakangi oleh kemampuan siswa dalam memahami konsep pada pembelajaran materi ilmu pengetahuan alam (IPA) masih kurang, pada siswa kelas V A di salah satu SD Negeri Kecamatan Sukasari Kota Bandung. Hal ini di tandai dengan hasil tes dan pretest yang dilakukan nilai yang diperoleh masih di bawah KKM, Adapun KKM yang diterapkan disekolah yaitu 70. Guru dalam proses pembelajaran tematik pada materi IPA masih cenderung menggunakan metode ceramah dan mengesampingkan pembelajaran langsung yaitu pengamatan dan percobaan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep materi IPA dengan menerapkan pendekatan saintifik dalam pembelajarannya. Metode penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan mengadaptasi PTK milik Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V A yang berjumlah 28 orang. Menafsirkan yaitu 73%, mencontohkan 71%, mengklasifikasi 71%, meringkas 54%, menyimpulkan 76%, membandingkan 76%, dan menjelaskan 52% sedangkan pada siklus II indikator pemahamn konsep mengalami peningkatan yaitu menafsirkan 86%, mencontohkan 88%, mengkalasifikasi 86% meringkas 88%, menyimpulkan 83%, membandingkan 81%, dan menjelaskan 81%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan saintifik dalam pembelajaran dikelas V A terbukti dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa dalam materi IPA. Maka dengan itu diharapkan pendekatan saintifik dapat dijadikan alternatif dalam pembelajaran guru untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa dalam pembelajaran. This study based on the ability of student to understand the concept of learning natural science (IPA) materials that was still lacking in the fifth A class at the one of public elementary school in Kecamatan Sukasari Bandung City. It characterized by the results of doing the test and pre-test which the value is obtained under KKM. The criteria applied mastery learning in school is 70. The role of teacher in the learning process natural science (IPA) of thematic material is still tend to use the lecture method and push the direct learning that consisted of observation and experiment. The purpose of this study was to improve the understanding concept of natural science materials by applying scientific approaches in learning. The research method is using the Classroom Action Research (PTK) by adopted PTK’s Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. This study was conducted in two cycles. The subject of this research is the students of fifth A class which is totaling 28 student. In the first cycle (I), the indicators of understanding concept consisted of interpreting 73%, pointed out 71%, classifying 71%, summarizing 54%, concluded 76%, comparing 76%, and explained 52%. Thus, in the second cycle (II) the indicators of understanding concept increased in the interpreting 86%, pointed out 88%, classifying 86% summarizing 88%, concluded 83%, comparing 81%, and explained 81%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the application of scientific approach in learning process of fifth A class has proven to improve the students' understanding in natural science (IPA) materials. To conclude, it has expected that scientific approach can be used as an alternative in learning teachers to improve the understanding concept of student in learning.
