Abstract
Penelitian ini terfokus pada proses peningkatan pemahaman konsep peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPS melalui model active learning dengan menggunakan metode guided note taking. Proses peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep pada pembelajaran IPS di kelas VIII SMPN 49 Bandung kurang begitu ditekankan ini terlihat pada proses pembelajaran IPS dengan metode konvensional kurang menarik perhatian siswa karena peran dominan guru dan menjadikan peran siswa cenderung pasif karena hanya berperan sebagai penerima informasi. Salah satu upaya proses peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep dalam pembelajaran IPS adalah melalui penerapan model pembelajaran aktif dengan menggunakan metode guided note taking. Proses peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep harus berkelanjutan sehingga penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas agar aspek kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa menjadi dapat terus dipertahankan. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas serta subjek penelitian utama siswa kelas VIII SMPN 49 Bandung, diharapkan penelitian ini berhasil menemukan cara meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa melalui metode guided note taking. Temuan dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: 1) Perencanaan metode guided note taking yang dilakukan sesuai dengan perencanaan yang biasa dilakukan yakni menyiapkan silabus,rpp,materi,sumber belajar, dan bahan penilaian; 2) Pelaksanaan metode guided note taking dilakukan sebanyak 3 siklus dan mengalami peningkatan dari aspek pemahaman konsep disetiap siklusnya yang dilihat dari penilaian kelompok; 3) Hambatan dalam penerapan metode guided note taking adalah peran guru belum maksimal dalam menjalankan peran guru sebagai pengawas dan motivator; 4) Upaya yang dilakukan untuk penerapan metode guided note taking adalah memaksimalkan peran guru sebagai pengawas dan motivator kepada siswa untuk dapat termotivasi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsepnya; 5) Hasil dari peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa nampak dari setiap siklusnya dimana dari setiap siklus mengalami peningkatan yang dilihat dari penilaian kelompok. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran aktif dengan menggunakan metode guided note taking dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa ini terlihat dari adanya peningkatan dari setiap siklusnya terdiri dari mendengarkan guru menerangkan materi, mengisi secara berkelompok hand out yang telah diberikan, mempersentasikan di depan kelas dari hasil hand out yang telah diisi, siswa harus bisa (menerangkan, menginterpretasikan dan memberikan contoh);--- This study focused on the process improvementof students’ concept understanding in social studies subject (IPS) through active learning models by using the guided note taking method. The process of improving the ability of understanding the concept of the social studies subject in VIII grade SMPN 49 Bandung is less emphasized in the learning process, the teachers used conventional method that make students bored because of the dominant role of the teacher and the students play the passive role just as a receiver of information. One of the efforts in improving the ability of understanding the concepts in social studies subject learning is through the application of active learning model by using the method of guided note taking. The process of improving the ability of understanding the concept must be sustainable, so that this study using research methods class action, so that the capability of understanding the concept of the student can be maintained. By using qualitative and quantitative approaches using action research methods as well as the main research subjects students of VIII grade in SMPN 49 Bandung, this study is expected to improve the ability of students' understanding of concepts through guided method of note taking. The results in this study are as follows: 1) Planning guided method of note taking is done in accordance with the usual planning ie preparing the syllabus, lesson plans, materials, learning resources and assessment materials; 2) The method of guided note taking is done by 3 cycles and increased the understanding of the concept of aspect in every cycle as seen from the group assessment; 3) The obstacles to the application of methods guided note taking is the teacher's role is not maximized in running the teacher's role as supervisor and motivator; 4) Efforts are made to the application of methods guided note taking is to maximize the role of the teacher as a supervisor and motivator for students to be motivated to improve understanding of the concept; 5) The result of an improved understanding of concepts students appear on each cycle of each cycle which has increased visits from the group assessment. Results of the study revealed that by applying active learning model by using the method of guided note taking can improve understanding of the concept of students is evident from the increase of each cycle consists of listening to the teacher explaining material, filling in groups hand out has been given, mempersentasikan in front of a class of hand out the results of which have been filled, the student should be able (to explain, interpret and provide examples.
