Abstract

Penelitian ini dilator belakangi oleh rendahnya aktivitas belajar dan pemahaman siswa pada materi penjumlahan dan pengurangan pecahan yang menyebabkan hasil belajar peserta didik rendah. Hal ini disebabkan oleh pembelajaran yang masihmenggunakan pendekatan konvensional.salah satu pendekatan yang dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan pemahaman siswa yaitu pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). Penelitiantindakan kelas inibertujuanuntukmendeskripsikanpenerapan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika pada materi penjumlahan dan pengurangan pecahan siswa kelas IV SDN X. Meliputi: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan pemahaman konsep siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) model spiral Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Subjekpenelitianiniadalahsiswakelas IV SDN X yang berjumlah 25 orang.alat pengumpul data yang digunakan adalah pedoman observasi untuk menjaring data yang bersifat kualitatif dan tes yang bersifat kuantitatif. Pengolahan data kualitatif dilakukan dengan cara reduksi data, klasifikasi data, display data dan interpretasi data. Sedangkan pengolahan data kuantitatif dilakukan dengan cara menghitung rata-rata nilai siswa dan menghitung persentase ketuntasan belajar siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dengan menggunakan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) menunjukkan peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya. Nilai rata-rata siswa pada pra siklus adalah 34,32 dengan ketuntasan sebesar 4%.Padasiklus I,nilai rata-rata siswa meningka tmenjadi 51,8 Dengan ketuntasan sebesar 16% .Pada siklus II nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat menjadi 77,4 dengan ketuntasan sebesar 76%, dan pada siklus III nilai rata-rata siswa menjadi 90 Dengan ketuntasan 96%. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, dapatdisimpulkanbahwapenerapanpendekatanRealistic Mathematics Education (RME) dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa kelas IV SDN X materi penjumlahan dan pengurangan pecahan.;--- The background of this research is the low of students’ learning activities and students’ understanding about addition and substraction of fraction which cause to the low result of the study.This thing is caused by a study which still used conventional approaches. One approach that can increase the activities and understanding of the student’s is Realistic Mathematics Education approach (RME). The classroom action reseach aims to describe the implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education approach (RME) to increase an understanding about the concept of mathematicsabout addition and subtraction of fractionsin fourt grade students of elementary school in State Elementary School of X. Includes: planning, implementation, and students’ understanding.The methode used in this research is classroom action research with the spiral model by Kemmis and Mc. Taggart.The subject of the research is the fourt grade student of elementary school in State Elementary School of X, with the number of 25 students.The data collection tool that is used is the observation guidelines to gather the qualitative data and the quantitative test. Qualitative data processing is done by data reduction, data classivication, data display and data interpretation. While the quantitative data processing is done by calculating the average value and calculate the percentage of mastery learning of students.The findings show that there is and increasing every cycle by using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). The average score of student in pre-cycle is 34,32 with 4% completeness. In cycle I, the average score of students has been increased become 51,8 with 16% completeness. In cycle II, the average score of students has beeb increased become 77,4 with 76% completeness, and in the cycle III, the average score of students become 90 with 96% completeness. Based on the finding, it can be concluded that the implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) can increase the activity and an understanding of mathematics’ concept for the fourth grade students in elementary school about addition and subtraction of fractions.
