Abstract

Penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan untuk menemukan (1) asal-muasal seni ajeng, (2) mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan seni ajeng, (3) menemukan dan mendeskripsikan nilai budaya yang terkandung dalam seni ajeng, dan (4) menyusun hasil penelitian seni ajeng untuk bahan pembelajaran membaca artikel budaya di SMA kelas XII. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif, yang menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik penelitian yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pedoman wawancara dan instrumen dokumentasi berupa alat rekam dan kamera foto. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, asal-muasal seni ajéng merupakan hasil kreativitas Embah Jagakerti dalam memanfaatkan alat musik yang ditemukannya ketika membuat saluran air di Tegal Burangrang Gunung Garunggang, yang kemudian dibawa ke Desa Cipelang dan menjadi seni tradisional Desa Cipelang. Dalam pelaksanaan seni ajéng terbagi dalam tiga tahapan, yaitu pra pertunjukan, pelaksanaan pertunjukan, dan pasca pertunjukan. Adapun nilai budaya yang terdapat dalam seni ajeng dilihat dari unsur budaya, fungsi, dan nilai-nilai dasar seni. Hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan untuk bahan pembelajaran membaca artikel budaya mengenai seni ajeng di SMA kelas XII. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah seni ajeng merupakan seni tradisional yang erat kaitannya dengan kegiatan ritual dan terus dilestarikan oleh masyarakatnya. Rekomendasi dalam penelitian ini ditujukan kepada pemerintah dan pembelajaran Bahasa Sunda.;---This research aims to (1) discover the origin of seni ajeng, (2) describe how seni ajeng is executed, (3) reveal and describe the cultural values carried by seni ajeng, and (4) to compose the results of this research on seni ajeng as learning material in reading cultural article comprehension for 3rd year senior high school students. Qualitative descriptive approach is used as the method for this research. The techinque chosen for this research are observation, interview, and documentation. Interview guidance, sound recorder and camera are used as the instruments for this research. The results of this research show that the origin of seni ajeng comes from the musical instruments which founded Embah Jagakerti when he built an irrigation channel in Tegal Burangrang, Gunung Garunggang. The instruments are soon taken to Cipelang Village and known as Cipelang Village traditional art. The execution of seni ajéng are divided into three steps. The pre-performance, the performance, and the post-performance. It is found that the cultural values from seni ajeng can be seen from its cultural elements, functions, and basic values. The results of this research can be used as a learning material in reading cultural article comprehension for 3rd year of senior high school. It can be concluded that seni ajeng is a traditional art that can be considered as a ritual and is preserved by the society. The recommendation in this research is addressed to the government and made for Sundanese language learning.
