    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dari hasil observasi yang dilakukan di kelas VII-a SMPN 2 Simpang Pematang, yang menunjukkan rendahnya keterampilan interpersonal siswa yang ditandai dengan rendahnya penghargaan siswa terhadap perbedaan dalam kelompoknya, siswa belum mampu memberikan pertanyaan yang relevan, lemah dalam menyampaikan pemahaman secara lisan, kurang bertanggung jawab dan belum sepenuhnya siswa dapat berpartisipasi pada saat penugasan kelompok. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan metode pembelajaran Teams Games Tournament (TGT) terhadap peningkatan keterampilan interpersonal siswa pada pembelajaran IPS. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas (classrooms action research) yang mengacu pada model Kemmis & Mc Taggart dan dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus yang mencakup perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Penelitian ini fokus pada peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi dan keterampilan kerjasama siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadinya peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi dan keterampilan kerjasama siswa pada tiap siklus. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran IPS dengan menggunakan metode kooperatif tipe Teams Games Tournament (TGT) dapat meningkatkan keterampilan interpersonal siswa khususnya keterampilan komunikasi dan keterampilan kerjasama siswa.;
    This research was conducted based on the result of the observation in the class VII- a of SMP N 2 Simpang Pematang which indicates low of students interpersonal skills marked by the low of students appreciation toward the differences in their group. The students had not be able to deliver relevant questions, weak on delivering a comprehensive orally, less responsibility, and could not fully participate in a group task. The goal of this research was to find out the application of Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning method could increase the students interpersonal skill in the learning of Social Subject. The research methodology used was a classroom action research based on Kemmis & Mc. Taggart model. This research conducted in three cycles which covered planning, action, observation, and reflection. It focused on the increasing of students communicative and cooperative skills. The result of the research showed that there was an improvement on students communicative and cooperative skills in each cycle. From the result, can be concluded that the learning of social studies with the application of cooperative method type Teams Games Tournament (TGT) can increase students interpersonal skills especially students communicative and cooperative skills.
