Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis sangat penting dimiliki oleh siswa. Namun berdasarkan fakta dilapangan, Indonesia menempati peringkat terbawah di PISA 2012 dalam kemampuan matematis. Ini berarti kemampuan matematis siswa Indonesia perlu ditingkatkan, salah satunya kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan suatu upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis siswa, salah satunya dengan menerapkan model Accelerated Learning dalam pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah pencapaian serta peningkatan kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model Accelerated Learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional dan mengetahui sikap siswa terhadap penerapan model Accelerated Learning pada pembelajaran matematika. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitiannya adalah pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Cimahi tahun ajaran 2015/2016 dan sampel pada penelitian ini adalah siswa dari dua kelas pada sekolah tersebut. Kelas eksperimen mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model Accelerated Learning, sedangkan kelas kontrol mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model konvensional. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis siswa, angket, dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) pencapaian kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model Accelerated Learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model konvensional; (2) peningkatan kemampuan berpikir lateral matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model Accelerated Learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model konvensional; (3) siswa pada umumnya memberikan respon positif terhadap pembelajaran matematika dengan menerapkan model Accelerated Learning.; The Lateral thinking ability is essential for students. However, based on PISA 2012, Indonesia occupied the lowest rank in mathematical ability. This means Mathematical Lateral Thinking of Indonesian students need to be improved. Therefore, it is important to increase students’ ability in mathematical lateral thinking, one of those efforts by applying Accelerated Learning model in mathematical learning. This research aims to know the achievement and enhancement of students’ mathematical lateral thinking who obtained the lesson by Accelerated Learning model, and also to know the students’ attitude toward implementation Accelerated Learning model in mathematical learning. Quasi experiment was used as the method in this research and pretest-posttest control group design was applied. The population in this research is all students in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Cimahi 2015/2016 period, the sample is students from two grades. The experiment group obtained the lesson under Accelerated Learning, while the control group obtained conventional lesson. The ability test of mathematical lateral thinking, questionnaire, and observation paper were used to obtained the data. The results of this research are : (1) the achievement of student’s mathematical lateral thinking whose obtained a lesson under Accelerated Learning model is better than those who obtained conventional lesson ; (2) the enhancement of students’ mathematical lateral thinking whose obtained a lesson under Accelerated Learning model is better than those who obtained conventional lesson ; (3) the students generally gave positive response towards mathematics learning through Accelerated Learning.
