Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perkembangan penalaran ilmiah dan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP pada pembelajaran IPA terpadu melalui penggunaan model levels of inquiry yang dilakukan pada sebuah SMP di kota Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode weak experiment dengan desain penelitian yaitu one group pretest-posttest design. Sejumlah siswa ke.las VII (N=30) terlibat sebagai subjek penelitian yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes penelaran ilmiah, tes keterampilan berpikir kritis, lembar observasi, transkrip video dan penyebaran angket. Instrumen tes berpikir kritis dan penalaran ilmiah diadaptasi dari tes terstandar berpikir kritis yaitu Cornell Criticall Thinking Skills dan tes modifikasi Lawson Classroom Scientific Reasoning. Teknik penolahan data penalaran ilmiah dilakukan dengan the pair-scoring schema, sedangkan berpikir kritis dilakukan sesuai dengan standar penilaian R-W/2 dari Ennis, kemudian dilakukan uji gain untuk keduanya. Hasil analisis data penalaran ilmiah menunjukkan bahwa setelah penggunaan model levels of inquiry terdapat peningkatan kemampuan penalaran ilmiah sebesar 3,3% dan keterampilan berpikir kritis sebesar 5,8%. Hasil analisis data LKS dan trankrip video pembelajaran menunjukkan adanya perkembangan penalaran ilmiah dan berpikir kritis untuk setiap pertemuan pada pembelajaran IPA. Siswa memberikan tanggapan yang positif terhadap pembelajaran levels of inquiry. Kata Kunci : Penalaran Ilmiah, Berpikir Kritis, Levels of Inquiry This study aimed to know the development of scientific reasoning and critical thinking skills of secondary school’s students in science learning by using levels of inquiry model in one of junior high school in Bandung. This study uses weak experiment and research design is one group pretest-posttest design. The subject of the research was the students of first grade with total number of participants were 30 by using purposive sampling. The technique of collecting data used scientific reasoning test (pretest and posttest), critical thinking skills (pretest and posttest), observation sheet, video transcript and questionnaire. The instrument of critical thinking skills and scientific reasoning used were adapted from a standardized test, there are Cornell Critical Thinking Skills and Modified Classroom Scientific Reasoning. The technique of analyzing data for scientific reasoning used the pair-scoring schema, while critical thinking skills used R-W/2 Ennis’s standardized assessment. The result of data analysis showed that the used levels of inquiry model can help the students to enhance the scientific reasoning was 3,3% and critical thinking was 5,8%. The result of worksheets analysis and video transcript showed that the used of levels of inquiry model can develop scientific reasoning and critical thinking skills every class meeting in science learning.
