Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya dan masih belum optimalnya kemampuan pemahaman dan penalaran matematis siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menelaah peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan penalaran matematis antara siswa yang memeroleh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi ekesperimen, dengan desain penelitian “pretest-postest-control design”. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII salah satu SMP Negeri di Kab. Lima Puluh Kota. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan pemahaman dan penalaran matematis siswa. Analisis statistik yang dilakukan adalah Independent Sample t-test, Uji Mann Whitney dan uji ANOVA satu jalur. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah: (1) Peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional; (2) Peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional berdasarkan kemampuan awal matematis (KAM) siswa (tinggi, sedang, rendah); (3) Ada perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis antara siswa yang berkemampuan awal kelompok tinggi, sedang, dan rendah yang memperoleh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC; (4) Peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvesional; (5) Peningkatan kemampuan penalaran siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC leibih tinggi daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional berdasarkan kemampuan awal matematis (KAM) siswa (tinggi, sedang, rendah); (6) Ada perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis antara siswa yang berkemampuan awal kelompok tinggi, sedang, dan rendah yang memperoleh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC. This study aimed to describe and analyze the increase comprehension and mathematical reasoning abilities among the students who attained the CIRC type of cooperative learning with students who received conventional learning. This research is quasi experiment with pretest-postest-control design. The researh population is one of the eighth-grade students of SMP N in Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota. The instruments used was a test students’ understanding and reasoning mathematical. Data ware analyzed using average difference test that were t-test, Mann-Whitney, and One way Anova. The results showed that: (1) Overall, The improvement of mathematical understanding ability of students who obtain cooperative learning tipe CIRC better than students who obtain conventional learning; (2) Category of early mathematical ability (EMA) of students (hight, medium, low), The improvement of mathematical undestanding ability of students who obtain cooperative learning tipe CIRC better than students who obtain conventional learning; (3) At the cooperative learning type CIRC class, There is difference between improvement of mathematical understanding ability of students with category of early mathematical ability (EMA) of students (hight, medium, low); (4) Overall, The improvement mathematical reasoning ability of students who obtain cooperative learning type CIRC better than students who obtain conventional learning; (5) Category of early mathematical ability (EMA) of students (hight, medium, low), The improvement of mathematical reasoning ability of students who obtain cooperative learning type CIRC better than students who obtain conventional learning; (6) At the cooperative learning tipe CIRC class, There is difference between improvement of mathematical reasoning ability of student with category of early mathematical ability (EMA) of students (hight, medium, low).
