Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membakukan instrumen empati yang diadaptasi dari intrpersonal reactivity index (IRI) yang dikembangkan oleh Davis. Masalah utama pada penelitian ini adalah bagaimana instrumen empati peserta didik SMA yang telah baku. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Sampel penelitian ditentukan dengan teknik random sampling, yang menghasilkan 450 responden yaitu peserta didik kelas X, XI dan XII dari SMA se-Kecamatan Soreang. Pengujian instrumen empati dilakukan dengan uji validitas item dan uji reliabilitas instrumen. Uji validitas item menghasilkan ada sembilan item yang tidak layak digunakan, sedangkan nilai reliabilitas instrumen empati adalah sebesar 0,760 yang berarti instrumen empati memiliki derajat keterandalan yang tinggi. Penelitian ini menghasilkan instrumen empati peserta didik SMA yang telah baku dan gambaran empati peserta didik SMA se-Kecamatan Soreang. Rekomendasi penelitian ditujukan kepada (1) guru Bimbingan dan Konseling tingkat SMA, (2) peneliti selanjutnya, dan (3) laboratorium PPB FIP UPI. Kata kunci : Instrumen empati, validitas, reliabilitas. This study mainly aims to standardize the empathy instrument of high school students based on interpersonal reactivity index (IRI), which was developed by Davis. This study employs quantitative approach using descriptive methods. The research sample(s) are chosen using random sampling technique, which produces 450 respondents from 10th, 11th and 12th graders of high school in the District of Soreang. The empathy instrument tests were conducted using items validity test and instrument reliability test. Items validity test resulted in nine unusable items. In addition, the value of empathy instruments reliability is equal to 0.760 which means empathy instruments have a high degree of reliability. This study generates empathy instruments of high school students that have been standardized and empathetic depiction of high school students in District of Soreang. Research recommendations are addressed to (1) Guidance and Counseling teacher in high school level, (2) further research(s), and (3) laboratory of PPB UPI FIP.
