Abstract
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) apakah peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang belajar melalui pembelajaran matematika dengan metode Guided Discovery lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran konvensional, (2) apakah terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa antara siswa kategori kemampuan tinggi, sedang, dan rendah melalui metode Guided Discovery, (3) apakah peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang belajar melalui pembelajaran matematika dengan metode Guided Discovery lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran konvensional, (4) apakah terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa antara siswa kategori kemampuan tinggi, sedang, dan rendah melalui metode Guided Discovery, (5) bagaimana sikap siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan metode Guided Discovery. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen. Populasinya, yaitu seluruh siswa SMP kelas IX di salah satu SMP di Kota Bandung. Adapun sampelnya terdiri dari 35 siswa kelas Guided Discovery (kelompok eksperimen) dan 35 siswa kelas konvensional (kelompok kontrol) yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Analisis kuantitatif menggunakan independent sample t-test, Mann-Whitney test, sedangkan analisis kualitatif dilakukan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang belajar matematika dengan metode Guided Discovery lebih baik secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika secara konvensional, (2) terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman yang signifikan ditinjau dari Kemampuan Awal Mematis (KAM) antara level kemampuan tinggi dan level kemampuan rendah, (3) peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang belajar matematika dengan Guided Discovery lebih baik secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika secara konvensional, (4) tidak terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang signifikan ditinjau dari Kemampuan Awal Mematis (KAM) pada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran dengan Guided Discovery, (5) sikap siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika, pembelajaran matematika dengan Guided Discovery, dan soal-soal kemampuan pemahaman dan pemecahan masalah matematis adalah positif. Kata kunci: Metode Guided Discovery, Kemampuan Pemahaman Matematis, Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis. The purpose of this research was to analyze: (1) is the increase of student’s mathematical understanding ability who study mathematic through guided discovery method better than student who study conventional learning, (2) whether there are differences in the increase students' mathematical understanding ability among students of high ability category, medium, and low through guided discovery’s method, (3) is the increase of student’s mathematical problem solving ability who study mathematic through guided discovery method better than student who study conventional learning, (4) whether there are differences in the increase students' mathematical problem solving ability among students of high ability category, medium, and low through guided discovery method, (5) how the students' attitudes toward learning guided discovery method. Research’s design is quasi-experimental. The populations are all nineth grade SMP’s students in Bandung. The sample are contain 35 students of guided discovery’s class (eksperiment group) and 35 student of conventional’s class who choosed by purposive sampling. Analyze of the data was quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative’s analyze was used independent sample t-test, Mann-Whitney test, but qualitative’s analyze using descriptive analyze. The result this research are: (1) the increase of student’s mathematical understanding ability who study mathematic through guided discovery method better than student who study conventional learning, (2) There are differences in the increase students' mathematical understanding ability among students of high ability category and low, (3) the increase of student’s mathematical problem solving ability who study mathematic through guided discovery method better than student who study conventional learning, (4) there are not differences in the increase students' mathematical problem solving ability based on first mathematical ability through guided discovery’s method, (5) the attitudes to learning mathematic, learning mathematic through guided discovery method, and questions of mathematic’s understanding ability and problem solving ability is positive.
