IMPLEMENTASI PEMBELAJARAN IPA TERPADU MENGGUNAKAN PENDEKATAN SCIENCE WRITING HEURISTIC (SWH) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PENGUASAAN KONSEP DAN KEMAMPUAN BERKOMUNIKASI SISWA SMP

    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat peningkatan pembelajaran IPA terpadu menggunakan pendekatan SWH (Science Writing Heuristic) terhadap peningkatan penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan berkomunikasi siswa kelas VIII yang dilakukan di SMPN Sumatera Barat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasy eksperiment dengan desain nonequivalent pretest and posttest control group design. Sebanyak 46 siswa terlibat sebagai subjek dalam penelitian ini yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes awal dan tes akhir untuk penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan berkomunikasi tulisan siswa, lembar observasi untuk kemampuan berkomunikasi lisan siswa, dan angket respon siswa mengenai implementasi pembelajaran SWH. Teknik pengolahan data melalui uji n-gain, uji normalitas dan homogenitas, serta uji-t satu pihak dengan bantuan program Microsoft office excel dan IBM SPSS Statistics 22. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan skor rata-rata n-gain kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol untuk penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan berkomunikasi tulisan berturut-turut adalah 0,71 dengan kriteria peningkatan tinggi dan 0,52 dengan kriteria peningkatan sedang, sedangkan skor rata-rata n-gain kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol untuk kemampuan berkomunikasi tulisan siswa berturut-turut adalah 0,80 dengan kriteria peningkatan tinggi dan 0,60 dengan kriteria peningkatan sedang. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis, penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan komunikasi tulisan siswa pada kelas eksperimen secara signifikan meningkat lebih tinggi dibanding kelas kontrol dengan nilai Sig. (2–tailed) < 0,05. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa implementasi pembelajaran IPA Terpadu menggunakan pendekatan SWH secara signifikan dapat lebih baik meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan berkomunikasi siswa.

    The purpose of this study is to showed enhancement of implementation of Integrated Science Learning used the SWH approach (Science Writing Heuristic) on student’s the mastery of concepts and ability of communication grade 8 in one of Junior High Schools in West Sumatera. This research used quasi-experiment method with nonequivalent pretest and posttest control group design. The subject of the research was the students of second grade with total number of participants were 46 by using purposive sampling. The technique of collecting data used pretest and posttest from mastery of concepts and the ability written communication, observation sheet for ability oral of communication, and students of questionnaire about SWH approach. The technique of analyzing data used normality and homogenous test, N-gain test and one tail t-test were tested by IBM SPSS Statistics 22 and Microsoft office excel. Result from the analyses showed that the average of n-gain between experiment group and control group from mastery of concepts is 0,71 with high of citerian and 0,52 with medium of citerian, the average of n-gain between experiment group and control group from ability written of communication is 0,80 with high of citerian and 0,60 with medium of citerian. The hypothesis test, mastery of concepts and the ability written of communication on experiment group is significant better than control group with Sig. (2–tailed) < 0,05. The conclusion of this resecearch showed that implementation of Integrated Science Learning used the SWH approach is better to enhance on student’s the mastery of concepts and the ability of communication.
