Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul Penerapan Metode Discovery Learning dalam Pembelajaran Menulis Teks Eksplanasi (Penelitian Eksperimen Kuasi pada Siswa Kelas XI SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015). Metode penelitian yang digunakan, yakni metode penelitian eksperimen kuasi, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan metode discovery learning dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi. Dengan demikian, adapun prosedur aplikasi metode discovery learning, yakni stimulasi, mengidentifikasi masalah, mengumpulkan data, mengolah data, memverifikasi dan menyimpulkan. Sampel dipilih dengan menggunakan random kelas dari populasi kelas XI SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi, sehingga kelas XI KM A terpilih sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas XI KP A sebagai kelas eksperimen. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, skor uji reliabilitas antarpenimbang prates dan pascates di kelas eksperimen dan kontrol berkorelasi sangat tinggi. Selain itu, data sampel terbukti berdistribusi normal dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95% serta data bersifat homogen. Adapun hasil dari prates dan pascates menunjukkan nilai di kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibanding kelas kontrol. Skor rata-rata prates di kelas eksperimen 55,10 dan skor rata-rata pascates 72,36. Sementara itu, skor rata-rata prates di kelas kontrol 48,24 dan skor rata-rata pascates 53,30. Pada uji perbedaan data nilai prates dan pascates kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, diperoleh nilai thitung sebesar 7,535 dan ttabel 2,571, terbukti thitung 7,535 ≥ ttabel 2,571, maka Ha diterima. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis yang diajukan peneliti diterima karena hasil perhitungan membuktikan bahwa thitung ≥ ttabel jadi hasil penelitian memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan metode discovery learning. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa metode discovery learning dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi. The title of this paper is the Application of Discovery Learning Method in Study of Writing Explanation Text (Quasi Research at Students of The Eleventh Grade from SMKN 1 Cimahi Year 2014/2015). The method of quasi experimental research was employed in this research, this paper is aimed at finding out the the effectiveness of the discovery learning method in study of writing explanation text from the application procedures of discovery learning method which are stimulation, problem identification, data collecting, data processing, verification and generation. Random class sample selected from all the eleventh grade population of SMKN 1 Cimahi therefore class XI KM A was chosen as class control and class XI KP A as the class experiment. Based on acquired there were very tight correlation in pre-tes and post-test scoring reliability between class experiment and class control. In the other hand sample data was homogeny and proofed has normal distribution with 95% level of trustworthy. The class XI KP A as class experiment show higher scoring result from pre-test and post-test than class XI KM A as class control. The average score of pre-test in class experimental is 55.10 and average score of post-test 72.36. Meanwhile, the average score of pre-test in class control is 48.24 and average score of post-test is 53.30. Afterwards from the test it show that tcount is 7.535 and ttabel is 2.571 indicated that Ha is accepted because tcount 7.535 ≥ ttabel 2.571. It also indicated that the hypothesis is accepted because tcount ≥ ttabel so there are significant differences test results from before and after using discovery learning method. It was proof that discovery learning method can be used in study of writing explanation text.
