Abstract

Penelitian ini di latar belakangi oleh masih rendahnya kemampuan berhitung pada anak kelompok B di TK Tunas Karya Cibening, disebabkan kurangnya media pembelajaran yang mendukung, dan metode pembelajaran masih menggunakan metode ceramah tanpa melibatkan keaktifan anak secara langsung dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berhitung anak melalui kegiatan meronce. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui dua siklus dengan masing-masing siklus terdiri dari dua tindakan. Subjek penelitian adalah anak kelompok B TK Tunas Karya Cibening yang berjumlah 12 orang anak yang terdiri dari 7 orang anak laki-laki dan 5 orang anak perempuan. Hasil penelitian menyatakan, bahwa kemampuan berhitung anak pada prasiklus, anak pada kategori kurang (K) sebanyak 7 anak (58%), anak kategori cukup (C) sebanyak 3 anak (25%), dan pada kategori baik (B) sebanyak 2 anak (17%). Akhir siklus I anak pada kategori kurang (K) sebanyak 3 anak (25%), anak kategori cukup (C) sebanyak 4 anak (33%), dan anak pada kategori baik (B) sebanyak 5 anak (42%), dan akhir siklus 2 mengalami peningkatan yaitu anak pada kategori kurang (K) menjadi tidak ada dengan presentasi 0%, anak pada kategori cukup (C) sebanyak 3 anak (25%), dan anak pada kategori baik (B) sebanyak 9 anak (75%). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diatas dapat disimpulkan bahwa melalui kegiatan meronce dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berhitung anak. Rekomendasinya bagi penelitian ini adalah bagi guru dan kepala sekolah dapat menggunakan kegiatan meronce ini sebagai salah satu aktivitas pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berhitung anak. ---------- This study aims to investigate the numeracy skill of kindergarten students through meronce activity. This aims occurred because of some problems such as the lack of the students’ numeracy skill in the group B of Tunas Karya Cibening Kindergarten which was caused by the less of appropriate teaching media and the method of teaching activity was still using conventional approach without involving the students’ engagement in the teaching and learning process. Classroom action research was used as the method of this study. This study was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of two steps. Twelve students in the group B of Tunas Karya Cibening Kindergarten which consist of seven male students and five female students were involved. The results revealed that there were the differences percentages in the each level of the students’ numeracy skill of each cycle. In the pre-cycle, there were seven students (58%) of low level achievement, three students (25%) of middle level achievement, and two students (17%) of high level achievement. In addition to this, the end of the first cycle showed that there were three students (58%) of low level achievement, four students (25%) of middle level achievement, and five students (17%) of high level achievement. Moreover, there was the increasing percentage in the end of second cycle. There were not students in the low level achievement (0%), it also found that there were three students (25%) in the category of middle level achievement, whereas nine students (75%) were in the high level achievement. It can be concluded that meronce activity can increase the students’ numeracy skill. Thus, it was recommended for the teachers and the headmaster to use the activity as one of the learning activity in order to improve the students’ numeracy skill.
