Abstract
Penelitian ini di latar belakangi oleh masih rendahnya motivasi dan hasil belajar peserta didik pada Mata Pelajaran IPS di tingkat SMP. Pada Umumnya dalam kegiatan Pembelajaran IPS di kelas, peserta didik terlihat bosan, jenuh, pasif dan kurang komunikatif. Atas dasar itulah maka penelitian dilakukan dengan menerapkan Metode Pembelajaran Pencapaian Konsep dan Sinektik pada Pelajaran IPS. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan metode pembelajaran Pencapaian Konsep dan Metode Pembelajaran Sinektik terhadap motivasi dan hasil belajar peserta didik. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap 93 orang peserta didik Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 6 Bandung, yang terbagi ke dalam dua kelas eksperimen dan satu kelas kontrol. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain non equivalent control group design. Data hasil penelitian diperoleh dari nilai pre-test, post-test dan observasi. Peningkatan motivasi dan hasil belajar peserta didik diukur dengan penghitungan gain ternormalisasi (N-gain) antara perolehan skor rata-rata pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penghitungan rata-rata nilai gain ternormalisasi motivasi belajar peserta didik pada kelas eksperimen 1 lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas eksperimen 2. Sedangkan perhitungan nilai rata-rata gain ternormalisasi pada hasil belajar peserta didik menunjukkan bahwa kelas eksperimen 2 lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas eksperimen 1. Pengujian terhadap hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan formula thitung sampel bebas atau independent samples test karena data tersebut tidak berasal dari kelas yang sama. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa uji hipotesis 1, hipotesis 2, hipotesis 3, hipotesis 4, thitung lebih besar atau sama dengan ttabel (thitung ≥ ttabel), sedangkan hasil uji hipotesis 5 menunjukkan thitung di dalam wilayah ttabel (˗ttabel ≤ thitung ≤ ttabel), dan hasil uji hipotesis 6 thitung di luar wilayah ttabel (˗thitung ≤ ˗ttabel atau thitung ≥ ttabel). Dengan demikian hipotesis 1, 2, 3, 4 dan 6 diterima sedangkan hipotesis 5 ditolak. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan Metode Pembelajaran Pencapaian Konsep dan Metode Pembelajaran Sinektik memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap motivasi dan hasil belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPS. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa kelas yang menerapkan pembelajaran dengan Metode Pencapaian Konsep motivasi belajar peserta didiknya lebih tinggi dibanding di kelas yang menggunakan Metode Sinektik, sedangkan kelas dengan Metode Sinektik memiliki hasil belajar yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas dengan Metode Pembelajaran Pencapaian Konsep. Sehubungan dengan temuan dan hasil observasi dalam penelitian ini, untuk menerapkan Metode Pembelajaran Pencapaian Konsep maupun Sinektik harus memperhatikan karakteristik peserta didik, kesiapan guru serta materi pelajaran. ---------- The background to the research is the low motivation and learning outcomes of junior high school students in the subject of social studies. In general, during the teaching and learning of social studies, students demonstrate boredom, saturation, passivity, and a lack of communication. Therefore, the research was undertaken to implement Concept Attainment and Synectic Learning Methods in social studies subject. It aims to find whether the implementation of Concept Attainment and Synectic Learning Methods has influences on students’ motivation and learning outcomes. The research was conducted to 93 eighth grade students of SMP Negeri (State Junior High School) 6 Bandung, divided into two experimental classes and one control class. The research adopted quasi-experimental method with non-equivalent control group design. Data were obtained from the scores of pretest and posttest and observation. Students’ increased motivation and learning outcomes were measured by comparing the normalized gain (N-gain) of the pretest and posttest scores. The results show that the normalized gain value of students’ motivation in the first experimental class was greater than that of the second experimental class. Meanwhile, the average normalized gain of students’ learning outcomes in the second experimental class was greater than that of the first experimental class. The hypothesis was tested with independent samples t-test, as the data were derived from the same class. The findings show that the values of t (tvalue) for hypothesis 1, hypothesis 2, hypothesis 3, and hypothesis 4 were greater than or equal to the critical values/ttable (tvalue ≥ ttable), whereas the tvalue for hypothesis 5 was within the area of ttable (˗ttable ≤ tvalue ≤ ttable), and the tvalue for hypothesis 6 was outside the area of ttable (˗tvalue ≤ ˗ttable or tvalue ≥ ttable). Hence, hypotheses 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 were accepted, whereas hypothesis 5 was rejected. It can be inferred then that the implementation of Concept Attainment and Synectic Learning Methods has significant influence on students’ motivation and learning outcomes in the subject of social studies. The research results also demonstrate that the class implementing Concept Attainment Learning Method in its teaching and learning had higher motivation than the class employing Synectic Method. On the other hand, the class implementing Synectic Method had greater learning outcomes than the class implementing Concept Attainment Learning Method. Considering the results and findings of this research, it is recommended that the implementation of both Concept Attainment and Synectic learning take into acvalue students’ characteristics, teacher preparedness, and the learning materials.
