Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan pembelajaran Levels of Inquiry (LoI) untuk meningkatkan literasi sains siswa SMP, karena pembelajaran LoI memberikan sarana untuk melatihkan kemampuan-kemampuan literasi sains serta aturan dalam menggunakan inkuiri. Penelitian ini terdiri dari lima pertemuan diawali dengan pretest, tiga pertemuan pembelajaran LoI, dan diakhiri dengan postest. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran peningkatan literasi sains setelah menggunakan pembelajaran levels of inquiry. Penelitian ini penting dilakukan, karena literasi sains merupakan kemampuan yang dianggap penting, dengan literasi sains seseorang mampu mengembangkan pengetahuan sains mereka untuk dapat mengambil keputusan yang berkitan dengan fenomena sains dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Selain itu, pembelajaran LoI merupakan pengembangan dari pembelajaran inkuiri. Framework literasi sains menggunakan framework PISA 2015 yang merupakan framework terbaru dalam literasi sains. Weak experiment dengan desain one-group pretest-posttest design digunakan sebagai metode penelitian. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Bandung sebanyak 23 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran IPA menggunakan LoI dapat meningkatkan literasi sains dengan perolehan gain yang dinormalisasi sebesar 0,5 dalam kategori sedang. Demikian pula untuk domain kompetensi meliputi menjelaskan fenomena ilmiah mengalami peningkatan dalam kategori tinggi (0,73), mengevaluasi dan merancang penelitian ilmiah dalam kategori sedang (0,56), dan kompetensi menginterpretasikan data dan bukti ilmiah dalam kategori rendah (0,28). Domain pengetahuan konten, prosedural, dan epistemik mengalami peningkatan dalam kategori sedang. Domain sikap minat dalam sains, menilai pendekata ilmiah, dan kesadaran terhadap lingkungan mengalami peningkatan dalam kategori rendah. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran LoI dapat meningkatkan literasi sains siswa SMP pada konteks energi alternatif. This study uses a learning Levels of Inquiry (LoI) to improve scientific literacy junior high school students, because LoI can be train science literacy skills as well as the rules in the use of inquiry. This study consists of five meetings, begins with a pretest, three meetings of LoI, and ending with post-test. This study aimed to obtain scientific literacy improvement after using the learning levels of inquiry. This study is important, because scientific literacy is an ability that is considered important, with science literacy someone able to develop their scientific knowledge to be able to take a decisions which related with the phenomenon of science in daily life. In addition, LoI is the development of inquiry learning. Framework scientific literacy using a framework PISA 2015 which latest in science literacy framework. Weak experiment with the design of one-group pretest-posttest design was used as research methods. Samples were eighth grade students in one of the Junior High School in Bandung Regency as many as 23 students. The results shows that learning science using LoI could increase the scientific literacy acquisition normalized gain of 0,5 in the medium category. Similarly, domain competence to explain scientific phenomena increased in the high category (0,73), evaluating and designing scientific research in the medium category (0,56), and the competence to interpret data and scientific evidence in the low category (0,28). Knowledge domain of the content, procedural, and epistemic increased in the medium category. Attitudes domain of interest in science, assess scientific approach, and environmental awareness has increased in the low category. Thus, it can be concluded that the learning level of inquiry can improve science literacy of junior high school students in the context of alternative energy.
