Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas III di salah satu SD Negeri di Kota Bandung. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pre-experimental dengan desain penelitian one group pretest-posttest. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas III yang berjumlah 31 siswa. Instrumen pengungkap data yang digunakan adalah soal evaluasi pretest dan posstest, lembar observasi, dan kamera foto. Data yang didapatkan berupa data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah dengan mencari rata-rata, gain ternormalisasi dan effect size. Temuan penelitian pada pretest menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep matematis siswa masih rendah, terbukti dengan rata-rata nilai siswa pada pretest yang hanya 48,39. Kemudian siswa diberi treatment dengan pembelajaran yang menggunakan pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning. Berdasarkan lembar observasi, keterlaksanaan pembelajaran mendapatkan nilai 0,95 atau baik sekali, penampilan mengajar guru mendapatkan nilai 0,98 atau baik sekali, dan aktivitas siswa mendapatkan nilai 0,94 atau aktif sekali. Maka nilai rata-rata siswa pada posttest mengalami peningkatan sebesar 32,90 menjadi 81,26. Peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa dengan menggunakan rumus gain ternormalisasi tergolong ke dalam kategori sedang dengan nilai gain ternormalisasi sebesar 0,64. Dan berdasarkan analisis effect size didapatkan hasil bahwa besar efek dari treatment yang diberikan termasuk ke dalam kategori efek tinggi dengan nilai effect size sebesar 3,10. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan Contextual Teaching and Learning efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of contextual teaching and learning approach in improving the ability of students understanding of mathematical concepts in third grade student of primary school in Bandung. The method used in this research are pre-experimental research design with one group pretest-posttest. The subject in this research were third grade student of primary school consisted 31 student. An instrument that used in this research is a matter of pretest and posstest evaluation, observation sheets, and a photo camera. Data obtained in the form of quantitative and qualitative data. Data analyze that used in this research is by finding the average, the normalized gain and effect size. The findings of the research on the pretest showed that the students' understanding of mathematical concepts is still low, the student average value on the pretest were only 48.39. Then the students were given treatment by learning using contextual teaching and learning approach. Based on observation results, learning obtain a value of 0.95 or better, a value of teachers to teach the appearance is 0.98 or better at all, and the activity of the students get the value of 0.94 or active. Then the average value of students on the posttest increased by 32.90 into 81.26. Improved understanding of the concept of the student by using the formula normalized gain belong to the medium category with a value of normalized gain of 0.64. And based on effect size analysis showed that the major effect of the treatment given fall into the category of high effect with the value of the effect size of 3.10. Based on the research it can be concluded that the contextual teaching and learning approach is effective in improving students' understanding of mathematical concepts.
