    Abstract

    Tujuan utama dalam penelitian ini untuk menyelidiki kemampuan representasi matematis dan adversity quotient siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP), sebagai akibat dari pembelajaran matematika melalui penerapan pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik (PMR). Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimental. Subjek dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 45 siswa SMP kelas VIII, pada salah satu SMP negeri di Kecamatan Merbau Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti Riau tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Subjek ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, dan penelitian ini menggunakan desain pretest–posttest control group. Data kemampuan representasi matematis dikumpulkan dengan tes uraian, sedangkan data adversity quotient dikumpulkan dengan skala adversity quotient. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik parametrik yaitu Uji Independent Sample T-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) siswa yang belajar matematika dengan pendekatan PMR memiliki kemampuan representasi matematis lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar matematika dengan PMB; (2) peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang belajar matematika dengan pendekatan PMR lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar matematika dengan PMB; (3) siswa yang belajar matematika dengan pendekatan PMR memiliki kecerdasan adversity quotient tidak lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar matematika dengan PMB; dan (4) peningkatan kecerdasan adversity quotient siswa yang belajar matematika dengan pendekatan PMR tidak lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika dengan PMB
    The main purpose of this study to investigate the ability of mathematical representations and adversity quotient of High School Students, as a result of learning mathematics through application Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). Research design used was a quasi experimental. Subjects in this study consisted of 45 students of class VIII Junior High School, Junior High School on one of the states in Sub Merbau Regency Meranti Islands Riau academic year 2013/2014. Subject determined by purposive sampling techniques, and this study using pretest-posttest design of the control group. Data collected with a mathematical representation ability test descriptions, while data collected by the adversity quotient scale. Data were analyzed using parametric statistical tests which is Test Independent Sample T-Test. The results showed that: (1) students who learn math with RME approach has a better ability mathematical representation of students who do not learn math with RME; (2) increasing mathematical representations ability of students who learn with RME better than students who do not learn with RME; (3) students who learn math with RME have adversity quotient not better than students who do not learn math with RME; (4) increasing of intelligence adversity quotient of students who learn math with RME approach not better than students who do not learn math with RME.
