Abstract

Penelitian didasarkan pada permasalahan self-efficacy siswa yang rendah pada pelajaran matematika. Penelitian bertujuan untuk membuktikan efektifitas konseling cognitive behavioral untuk meningkatkan self-efficacy siswa pada pelajaran matematika. Pendekatan penelitian secara kuantitatif dan metode yang digunakan yaitu single subject dengan desain A-B. Sampelnya adalah siswa kelas XI MIA yang memiliki self-efficacy rendah pada pelajaran matematika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan konseling cognitive behavioral efektif untuk meningkatkan self-efficacy siswa pada pelajaran matematika. Efektifitas tersebut terlihat pada perbandingan skor rata-rata baseline dan skor intervensi yang digambarkan dalam bentuk grafik pada masing-masing subjek penelitian. Guru bimbingan dan konseling diharapkan menjadikan konseling cognitive behavioral menjadi salah satu alternatif untuk meningkatkan self-efficacy dan performa siswa pada pelajaran matematika. Guru pelajaran matematika diharapkan tidak sekedar hanya menjelaskan materi yang diajarkan, namun juga diharapkan dapat melakukan penguatan keyakinan dan kemampuan siswa pada pelajaran matematika. Peneliti selanjutnya disarankan dapat memperluas subjek penelitian, tidak hanya pada jenjang SMA, melainkan juga pada jenjang SMP dan SD, serta menguji keefektifan konseling cognitive behavioral dalam seting kelompok. This study is based on the issue of students’ low mathematics self-efficacy and aims to identify the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral counseling to enhance their mathematics self-efficacy. It applies a quantitative approach and single subject method with an A-B design. The subjects consist of eleventh year students of Mathematics and Science Program, who possess low mathematics self-efficacy. The findings show that cognitive behavioral counseling is effective to enhance the students’ mathematics self-efficacy, as seen in comparing the average baseline scores with the intervention scores that are depicted in a graph for individual subjects of the study. Guidance and counseling teachers are expected to apply the cognitive behavioral counseling as a technique to develop the students’ self-efficacy and performance in mathematics. Future researchers are also expected to further scrutinize this issue, not only at senior high school level but at junior high school level as well, and examine the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral counseling in group setting.
