    Abstract

    Anak tunagrahita ringan mengalami hambatan dalam aspek intelektual, namun tetap memiliki potensi untuk diajarkan keterampilan membaca apabila diberikan metode dan media yang sesuai. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah penggunaan metode fonik berbasis media flashcard. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh penerapan metode fonik berbasis media flashcard terhadap peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan mengenal huruf anak tunagrahita ringan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Single Subject Research (SSR) dengan desain A-B-A. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif melalui perhitungan persentase capaian skor yang ditampilkan dalam grafik serta kategori tingkat keterampilan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode fonik berbasis media flashcard memberikan pengaruh besar terhadap peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan anak tunagrahita ringan. Hal ini tampak dari skor yang meningkat, yaitu kategori tidak terampil pada fase Baseline-1, cukup terampil pada fase intervensi, hingga mencapai terampil pada fase Baseline-2. Rekomendasi ditujukan kepada guru untuk menggunakan metode ini sebagai alternatif pembelajaran membaca, kepada orang tua agar mendukung pembelajaran di rumah dengan metode dan media serupa, serta kepada peneliti selanjutnya untuk mengembangkan penelitian pada materi membaca lanjutan dengan variasi media yang lebih luas. Children with mild intellectual disabilities face barriers in cognitive aspects but still have the potential to be taught reading skills when provided with appropriate methods and media. One effort that can be applied is the use of the phonics method with flashcard media. This study aims to determine the extent of the influence of the phonics method with flashcards on improving early reading skills in recognizing letters among children with mild intellectual disabilities. The research employed a Single Subject Research (SSR) method with an A-B-A design. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics through the calculation of percentage scores, which were presented in graphs and categorized into reading skill levels. The results showed that the phonics method with flashcards had a strong influence on improving the early reading skills of children with mild intellectual disabilities. This was evident from the increased scores: from the “not skilled” category in the Baseline-1 phase, to “fairly skilled” in the intervention phase, and reaching the “skilled” category in the Baseline-2 phase. Recommendations are directed to teachers to use this method as an alternative approach in reading instruction, to parents to support learning at home with similar methods and media, and to future researchers to develop studies on advanced reading materials with more varied media.
