Abstract
This study aims to identify the learning obstacles faced by eighth-grade students in junior high school while learning the system of linear equations with two variables (SPLDV) and to design a didactical learning framework to overcome these obstacles. The learning barriers are analyzed in-depth and categorized into three main dimensions: ontogenetic, epistemological, and didactical. The research methodology uses a qualitative approach based on Didactical Design Research (DDR), which involves prospective analysis of learning obstacles, the design of a didactical framework based on Hypothetical Learning Trajectories (HLT), and expert validation of the resulting design. The study participants were 30 students from a junior high school in Bandung. Supporting instruments for the research include test sheets, interview guidelines, and a voice recorder to document interactions during interviews. Data collection in this study was conducted using three main techniques: written tests, interviews, and document analysis. The learning barriers experienced by students include ontogenetic barriers related to initial readiness and mastery of prerequisite concepts, epistemological barriers arising during the mathematical modeling stage and concept transfer, and didactical barriers related to the teaching strategies and media used. The HLT for SPLDV in eighth grade consists of five main stages: understanding the context of real-world problems, representing the problem using tables and graphical representations, solving using substitution/elimination methods, and reflecting on and generalizing the concepts. The designed didactical framework utilizes multiple representations, symbolic, graphical, verbal, and tabular, with the application of adaptive scaffolding to support conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills progressively. This design aims to provide a comprehensive, adaptive, and responsive learning guide tailored to students' needs in learning SPLDV, with the hope of improving the quality of mathematics learning at the junior high school level.
