Abstract
ABSTRAK Pembelajaran apresiasi sastra anak di sekolah dasar menghadapi berbagai kendala, seperti keterbatasan bahan bacaan bermuatan multikultural dan ketiadaan model pembelajaran yang memungkinkan interaksi reflektif antara peserta didik dan teks. Kondisi ini menghambat literasi budaya, pemahaman terhadap keberagaman, serta terbentuknya peserta didik yang memiliki kemampuan apresiatif terhadap karya sastra. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan Model READING berbasis multikulturalisme dan literasi budaya. Model ini berlandaskan teori transaksional pembaca-teks, pendekatan sosiokultural, dan kompetensi budaya. Sintaks model terdiri atas lima tahap: Reading, Exploring, Analyzing, Discussing, dan Narrating yang dirancang untuk membangun keterlibatan aktif, refleksi makna, dan pemahaman lintas budaya terhadap teks sastra. Materi ajar berupa cerita realistik Payung Warna-Warni dikembangkan sebagai teks utama. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan Educational Design Research (EDR) yang mencakup identifikasi masalah, pengembangan solusi awal (prototipe), uji coba dan penyempurnaan, serta implementasi dan refleksi. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar penilaian validasi model, observasi keterlaksanaan, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan tes. Model diuji pada 137 peserta didik kelas V dari enam sekolah dasar di Kota Tasikmalaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model ini sangat layak berdasarkan penilaian pakar dan praktisi, sangat praktis berdasrkan uji keterlaksanaan, serta sangat efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik peserta didik. Berdasarakan temuan tersebut, model READING dinilai stabil, adaptif, dan layak diadopsi sebagai pendekatan alternatif dalam pembelajaran sastra anak berbasis multikultural. Kata kunci: model READING, model pembelajaran, literasi budaya, multikulturalisme, apresiasi sastra anak, sekolah dasar ABSTRACT Teaching children's literary appreciation in elementary schools faces various challenges, such as the limited availability of multicultural reading materials and the absence of a pedagogical model that enables reflective interaction between students and texts. These conditions hinder the development of cultural literacy, understanding of diversity, and the formation of students with appreciative abilities toward literary works. This study aims to develop the READING Model (Reading, Exploring, Analyzing, Discussing, and Narrating) based on multiculturalism and the reinforcement of cultural literacy. The model is grounded in the transactional reader-text theory, sociocultural approaches, and cultural competence. The model’s syntax consists of five stages: Reading, Exploring, Analyzing, Discussing, and Narrating, designed to foster active engagement, meaning-making reflection, and cross-cultural understanding of literary texts. The main teaching material used is a realistic children’s story entitled Payung Warna-Warni (Colorful Umbrella), developed by the researcher. The study employed an educational design research (EDR) approach that included problem identification, initial prototype development, trial and refinement, and implementation and reflection. Data were collected through model validation assessment sheets, implementation observations, reflective interviews, documentation, and testing. The model was tested on 137 fifth-grade students from six elementary schools in Tasikmalaya City. The findings indicate that the model is highly valid according to experts and practitioners, highly practical based on implementation trials, and highly effective in improving students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning outcomes. Based on these findings, the READING Model is considered stable, adaptable, and suitable to be adopted as an alternative approach to multicultural-based children's literature instruction.
