    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh banyaknya siswa yang masih kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika. Kesulitan ini dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor. Salah satu faktornya adalah perbedaan jenis kelamin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan siswa SD kelas V dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika dengan materi operasi penjumlahan dan pengurangan ditinjau dari jenis kelamin dan menganalisis faktor penyebabnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dan dilaksanakan di SDN 182 Perumnas Cijerah, Bandung Kulon, Kota Bandung. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 23 siswa diantarnya 13 siswa laki-laki dan 10 siswa perempuan kelas V yang dipilih secara purposive. Data diperoleh melalui tes soal cerita, angket, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa laki-laki lebih banyak mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami soal (38,4%) dan melakukan perhitungan (46,1%). Siswa perempuan memperoleh nilai rata-rata lebih tinggi, namun kesulitan utama terletak pada transformasi soal ke model matematika (40%) dan pemilihan operasi hitung (50%). Faktor penyebab kesulitan meliputi faktor internal (pemahaman bahasa, keterampilan berhitung, strategi penyelesaian, ketelitian, dan kepercayaan diri) serta faktor eksternal (strategi pembelajaran guru, lingkungan belajar, dan kurangnya latihan soal multi-langkah). Dengan demikian, terdapat perbedaan jenis kesulitan antara siswa laki-laki dan perempuan, yang menunjukkan perlunya pembelajaran kontekstual serta perhatian terhadap perbedaan jenis kelamin dalam penyelesaian soal cerita matematika. ---------- This research is motivated by the fact that many students still experience difficulties in solving mathematical word problems. These difficulties are influenced by various factors, one of which is gender differences. The purpose of this study is to analyze the difficulties of fifth-grade elementary school students in solving mathematical word problems on addition and subtraction operations from a gender perspective, as well as to identify the factors that cause these difficulties. This study employed a qualitative approach and was conducted at SDN 182 Perumnas Cijerah, Bandung Kulon, Bandung City. The research subjects consisted of 23 fifth-grade students, including 13 male students and 10 female students, selected purposively. Data were collected through word problem tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The results show that male students experienced more difficulties in understanding the problems (38.4%) and performing calculations (46.1%). Female students achieved a higher average score; however, their main difficulties were in transforming the problems into mathematical models (40%) and choosing the correct operations (50%). The factors contributing to these difficulties include internal factors (language comprehension, calculation skills, problem-solving strategies, accuracy, and self-confidence) and external factors (teacher’s instructional strategies, learning environment, and lack of practice with multi-step problems). Thus, there are differences in the types of difficulties experienced by male and female students, indicating the need for contextual learning and attention to gender differences in solving mathematical word problems.
