Abstract
Nonviolence disposition is a tendency in attitude, mindset, and behavior that prioritizes peaceful conflict resolution without violence, as well as the ability to appreciate and empathize with others. This aims of this study to evaluate the effectiveness of the Responding in Peaceful and Positive Ways (RIPP) program on the development of nonviolence disposition in students. This study employs a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent pre-post control group design. The study sample consists of 186 participants, with 20 students from Grade X at SMK Negeri 8 Bandung in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection was conducted using the Teenage Nonviolence Test (TNT) instrument with a Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and inferentially using the Mann-Whitney U test and effect size with Cohen's d formula. The Mann-Whitney U test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest mean scores (P < 0.05), with a large effect size (Cohen's d = 2.0). The research results indicate that the RIPP program has a significant impact on the development of students' nonviolence dispositions. The research findings confirm that the RIPP program is effective in developing students' nonviolent dispositions in the aspects of physical nonviolence, psychological nonviolence, active nonviolence values, helping/empathy, satyagraha, and tapasya, as reflected in positive emotion management, improved communication skills, empathy toward others, and peaceful conflict resolution. The implications for guidance and counseling are that the RIPP program serves as a preventive effort in developing students' nonviolent dispositions to enhance social skills and peaceful conflict resolution, thereby fostering a harmonious school environment.
