Abstract
Kemampuan memahami teks deskripsi, seperti mengidentifikasi informasi utama, detail pendukung, kosakata, dan kejelasan struktur, masih menjadi kendala bagi siswa kelas VII SMP. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penerapan metode Membaca Terbimbing berbantuan platform Kipin School dalam pembelajaran membaca pemahaman teks deskripsi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen kuasi tipe nonequivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 7 Cimahi tahun ajaran 2024/2025, dengan sampel sebanyak 70 siswa yang terbagi dalam kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes pilihan ganda dan soal uraian yang diberikan pada tahap pretest dan posttest. Uji independent samples t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi < 0,001, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok. Rata-rata nilai posttest kelompok eksperimen meningkat menjadi 84,89 dari nilai pretest 60,54, sedangkan kelompok kontrol hanya mengalami peningkatan kecil menjadi 74,17 dari nilai pretest 61,46. Peningkatan hasil belajar ditunjukkan oleh distribusi nilai yang bergeser ke kategori “baik”, dan “sangat baik”, beserta penurunan proporsi kategori “kurang” dibandingkan sebelum perlakuan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode Membaca Terbimbing berbantuan platform Kipin School berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks deskripsi siswa. Oleh karena itu, metode ini direkomendasikan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran membaca pemahaman teks deskripsi di jenjang SMP. The ability to understand descriptive texts, such as identifying key information, supporting details, vocabulary, and clarity of structure, remains a challenge for seventh-grade students in junior high school. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of the guided reading method assisted by the Kipin School platform in teaching reading comprehension of descriptive texts. The study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the nonequivalent control group type. The population of this study is all seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Cimahi for the 2024/2025 academic year, with a sample of 70 students divided into experimental and control groups. The instruments used were multiple-choice tests and essay questions administered in pretests and posttests. The independent samples t-test showed a significance value of < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. The average posttest score of the experimental group increased to 84.89 from a pretest score of 60.54, while the control group showed only a small increase to 74.17 from a pretest score of 61.46. The improvement in learning outcomes is shown by the shift in the distribution of scores towards the "good" and "very good" categories, accompanied by a decrease in the "poor" category compared to before the treatment. These findings indicate that the application of the Guided Reading method supported by the Kipin School platform positively impacts students' reading comprehension of descriptive texts. Therefore, this method is recommended as an alternative for teaching reading comprehension of descriptive texts in junior high school.
