Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan modifikasi alat bantu terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar renang gaya bebas pada siswa SMPN 1 Ciparay. Permasalahan dalam pembelajaran renang, seperti kurangnya koordinasi gerak, serta keterbatasan fasilitas, menjadi latar belakang perlunya pendekatan inovatif melalui alat bantu yang dimodifikasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus, masing-masing terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Instrumen yang digunakan mencakup tes keterampilan renang gaya bebas dan lembar observasi aktivitas siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan siswa setelah menggunakan alat bantu yang dimodifikasi, baik dalam aspek teknik dasar renang maupun kepercayaan diri di air. Temuan ini memperkuat bahwa penggunaan alat bantu yang kontekstual dan disesuaikan dengan karakteristik peserta didik dapat meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran renang, terutama di lingkungan dengan keterbatasan sarana. Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi referensi praktis bagi guru pendidikan jasmani dalam mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran yang kreatif dan adaptif. This study aims to determine the application of modified swimming aids to improve freestyle swimming learning outcomes among students at SMPN 1 Ciparay. Problems in swimming learning, such as poor motor coordination and limited facilities, underpin the need for an innovative approach using modified swimming aids. This study employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instruments used included a freestyle swimming skills test and a student activity observation sheet.The results showed a significant improvement in student abilities after using the modified swimming aids, both in terms of basic swimming techniques and confidence in the water. These findings reinforce the belief that the use of contextualized swimming aids tailored to student characteristics can enhance the effectiveness of swimming instruction, particularly in environments with limited resources. This research is expected to serve as a practical reference for physical education teachers in developing creative and adaptive learning strategies.
