    Abstract

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami peran orang tua dalam pemberian bekal makanan kepada anak, khususnya pada pertimbangan kebutuhan nutrisi dan preferensi makan anak, serta tantangan dan upaya yang dilakukan orang tua dalam proses penyusunannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam kepada tiga orang tua dengan tingkat pendidikan dan ekonomi berbeda, serta rutin memberikan bekal makanan. Selain itu, observasi terhadap anak saat mengonsumsi bekal makanan di sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa preferensi makan anak menjadi pertimbangan dominan dalam penyusunan bekal, meskipun orang tua memiliki kesadaran akan pentingnya pemenuhan gizi seimbang. Namun, keterbatasan waktu, kondisi ekonomi, tekanan psikologis orang tua, dan pengaruh lingkungan menjadi tantangan yang turut memengaruhi isi dan kualitas bekal makanan. Orang tua menyusun strategi adaptif, seperti berdiskusi dengan anak, menyesuaikan bahan makanan yang tersedia, serta menyederhanakan menu tanpa mengabaikan nilai gizi. Temuan dianalisis menggunakan teori ekologi perkembangan Brofenbrenner yang menjelaskan bahwa pertimbangan orang tua dalam pemberian bekal makanan dipengaruhi oleh interaksi berbagai sistem lingkungan yang membentuk dinamika pengasuhan anak. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi orang tua, pendidik, dan pembuat kebijakan dalam meningkatkan kebiasaan makan sehat anak sejak dini. This study aims to understand the role of parents in providing children with packed lunches, particularly in terms of nutritional needs and food preferences, as well as the challenges and efforts parents face in the preparation process. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with three parents with different educational and economic backgrounds, who regularly provided their children with packed lunches. In addition, observations were made of the children while they consumed their packed lunches at school. The results of the study indicate that children’s food preferences are the dominant consideration in preparing meals, even though parents are aware of the importance of balanced nutrition. However, time constraints, economic condition, parental psychological pressure, and environmental influences are challenges that also affect the content and quality of meals. Parents develop adaptive strategies, such as discussing with their children, adjusting available food ingredients, and simplifying menus without neglecting nutritional value. The findings were analysed using Brofenbrennner’s ecological theory of development, which explains that parent’s considerations in providing packed lunches are influenced by the interaction of various environmental systems that shape the dynamics of child rearing. This study is expected to contribute to parents, educators, and policymakers in improving children’s healthy eating habits from an early age.
