    Abstract

This study aims to develop, validate, and evaluate the effectiveness of the Jalmi Antik interactive web-based learning media in improving conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills of elementary school students on the topic of Earth's Rotation and Revolution. The research employed the Design and Development (D&D) model adapted from Peffers et al. (2007), consisting of six stages: Identify the problem, Describe the objectives, Design and develop the artifact, Subject the artifact to testing, Evaluate the results srtifact, and Communicate the results. The results indicate that Jalmi Antik effectively enhances students’ conceptual understanding. The average score on the conceptual understanding questionnaire was 85.33, categorized as “Excellent,” with 81.8% of students agreeing or strongly agreeing that the media helped them comprehend the phenomena of Earth’s rotation and revolution and their impacts. The use of interactive visuals, animations, and simulations proved effective in clarifying abstract concepts. Furthermore, the media also improved students’ critical thinking skills. The average critical thinking questionnaire score fell into the “High” category, with most students demonstrating good to excellent abilities in identifying problems, providing logical reasoning, connecting concepts, and evaluating information. The interactive activities and worksheets integrated into the media encouraged students to analyze, compare, and draw conclusions independently. Further analysis revealed a positive correlation between conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills, indicating that students with higher conceptual mastery tended to have stronger higher-order thinking skills. Validation from experts in learning, media, content, and language, along with positive responses from teachers and students, confirmed that Jalmi Antik met the feasibility criteria in terms of curriculum relevance, clarity of content, interactive design, ease of navigation, and language use. In conclusion, the Jalmi Antik interactive web-based learning media is feasible to be used as an alternative IPAS learning resource in elementary schools to improve students’ conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills.
