    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilakukan karena rendahnya keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi pada siswa sekolah dasar. Hal ini terlihat dari banyak siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menentukan topik, menyusun kalimat yang jelas, dan memahami tata bahasa yang benar, sehingga hasil tulisan mereka masih sederhana dan terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model inquiry dan model think pair share terhadap kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi, serta membandingkan perbedaan antara model inquiry dan model think pair share terhadap kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain The Matching-Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design yang melibatkan dua kelompok siswa, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang menerapkan model inquiry dan kelompok kontrol yang menerapkan model think pair share. Data diperoleh melalui kegiatan pre-test dan post-test. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 21 siswa kelas V-A sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan 22 siswa kelas V-B sebagai kelompok kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh Model Inquiry berbantuan video animasi terhadap keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa, yang dibuktikan melalui uji t berpasangan dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000. Temuan lain juga menunjukkan adanya pengaruh Model Think Pair Share berbantuan video animasi terhadap keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa, dengan hasil uji t berpasangan yang memperoleh nilai signifikansi 0,000. Selanjutnya, hasil independent sample test mengungkapkan adanya perbedaan pengaruh antara Model Inquiry dan Model Think Pair Share berbantuan video animasi terhadap keterampilan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa, dengan nilai signifikansi 0,038 (<0,05). Dengan hal ini, model pembelajaran inquiry dapat dipertimbangkan sebagai salah satu strategi pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi di tingkat sekolah dasar. -------- This study was conducted due to the low explanatory text writing skills of elementary school students. This condition was evident from the fact that many students experienced difficulties in determining a topic, composing clear sentences, and understanding proper grammar, resulting in writing products that were still simple and limited. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Inquiry model and the Think Pair Share model on explanatory text writing skills, as well as to compare the differences between the two models. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a Matching-Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design involving two groups of students: the experimental group, which applied the Inquiry model, and the control group, which applied the Think Pair Share model. Data were obtained through pre-test and post-test activities. The research sample consisted of 21 fifth-grade students from class V-A as the experimental group and 22 students from class V-B as the control group. The findings revealed that the Inquiry model assisted by animation videos had a significant effect on students’ explanatory text writing skills, as evidenced by the paired sample t-test with a significance value of 0.000. Another finding also indicated that the Think Pair Share model assisted by animation videos had a significant effect on students’ explanatory text writing skills, supported by the paired sample t-test which obtained a significance value of 0.000. Furthermore, the results of the independent sample test revealed a significant difference in the effect between the Inquiry model and the Think Pair Share model assisted by animation videos on explanatory text writing skills, with a significance value of 0.038 (<0.05). Thus, the Inquiry learning model can be considered as an alternative strategy to improve explanatory text writing skills at the elementary school level.
