PERANCANGAN GAME DESIGN DOCUMENT UNTUK PENGEMBANGAN GIM BERBASIS VIRTUAL REALITY “BENCANA: NATURE'S TRIALS”

    Abstract

    Meningkatnya kebutuhan akan edukasi mitigasi bencana yang efektif di wilayah rawan seperti Indonesia mendorong pemanfaatan serious game berbasis Virtual Reality (VR). Namun, pengembangannya yang kompleks menuntut dokumentasi desain terstruktur, sementara ketersediaan Game Design Document (GDD) yang terdokumentasi secara formal untuk konteks ini dalam literatur akademik masih terbatas. Penelitian ini merespons kebutuhan tersebut dengan merancang sebuah GDD untuk gim VR edukatif Bencana: Nature’s Trials, serta mengevaluasi peran dan kualitasnya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Design and Development, dengan artefak utama berupa GDD yang diadaptasi dari model Serious Game Design Document (SGDD). Proses evaluasi dilakukan melalui kuesioner kepada 4 orang tim pengembang untuk mengevaluasi kualitas GDD, dan 4 orang ahli untuk memvalidasi kesesuaiannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan GDD yang dirancang memiliki kualitas "Sangat Baik", terutama pada aspek struktur (rerata 4,00). Para ahli juga memvalidasi bahwa GDD sangat sesuai dengan gim, dengan penilaian terhadap nilai GDD sebagai acuan utama menjadi yang tertinggi (rerata 3,75). Temuan krusial yang konsisten dari kedua kelompok adalah kebutuhan fundamental untuk melengkapi GDD dengan dokumentasi visual yang lebih kaya. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi awal dengan menghasilkan sebuah artefak GDD yang tervalidasi untuk konteks serious game VR. ---------- The increasing need for effective disaster mitigation education in high-risk regions like Indonesia drives the utilization of Virtual Reality (VR) based serious games. However, their complex development demands structured design documentation, the availability of which remains limited in academic literature. This research responds to this need by designing a Game Design Document (GDD) for the educational VR game "Bencana: Nature’s Trials," and evaluating its role and quality. The research method used is Design and Development, with the main artifact being a GDD adapted from the Serious Game Design Document (SGDD) model. The evaluation was conducted via questionnaires distributed to a 4-member development team to assess the GDD’s quality, and 4 experts to validate its alignment. The results indicate that the GDD has a "Very Good" quality, particularly in its structure (mean score of 4.00). The experts also validated that the GDD corresponds highly with the game, with its value as a primary reference rated the highest (mean score of 3.75). A crucial, consistent finding from both groups is the fundamental need to supplement the GDD with richer visual documentation. This research provides an initial contribution by producing a validated GDD artifact for the VR serious game context.
