Abstract
The background of this research is the challenges in teaching English at the elementary school level, particularly in descriptive writing skills, due to students’ limited vocabulary, grammar mastery, and lack of creativity in expressing ideas. This study aims to develop an electronic Student Worksheet based on the RADEC model (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create) for teaching descriptive writing in Grade V bilingual elementary school. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method with a 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). At the development stage, the electronic worksheet was designed using a digital platform and validated by subject matter experts, pedagogical experts, and graphic design experts. The evaluation results showed scores of 82.61% from graphic design experts, 88.33% from pedagogical experts, and 86.76% from subject matter experts, with an average of 85.90%, categorized as highly feasible. Experts assessed that the worksheet aligns with curriculum content, presents an engaging and communicative visual design, and effectively promotes students’ active participation and critical thinking. A limited trial involving 21 fifth-grade bilingual elementary students showed highly positive responses regarding ease of understanding the material, attractiveness, content clarity, readability, and usability in daily learning. At the dissemination stage, evaluations by 10 elementary school teachers across West Java indicated an overall average score of 96.25% (highly feasible category), with details of 97.50% for material relevance, 97.08% for design and technical usability, 96.67% for RADEC stage integration, and 93.75% for facilitating descriptive writing activities. Overall, this research demonstrates that the RADEC-based electronic worksheet is effective, innovative, and flexible for use in both hybrid and offline learning, and can be an alternative in facilitating active involvement, critical thinking skills, and the quality of students' descriptive writing.
