    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kecerdasan visual-spasial siswa sekolah dasar akibat penggunaan model pembelajaran yang kurang mendukung pengembangan kemampuan tersebut. Untuk mengatasinya, penelitian ini menerapkan model Project Based Learning (PjBL) melalui kegiatan berkarya seni relief berbahan clay. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) efektivitas model PjBL dalam meningkatkan kecerdasan visual-spasial, (2) peningkatan kemampuan visual-spasial berdasarkan empat indikator menurut Haas, yaitu imagining, conceptualizing, problem solving, dan pattern seeking, serta (3) perbedaan peningkatan kecerdasan visual-spasial antara siswa yang mengikuti model PjBL dan direct instruction. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group. Sampel terdiri atas 25 siswa kelas eksperimen dan 24 siswa kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian mencakup tes visual-spasial, lembar observasi guru, dan penilaian karya siswa berdasarkan indikator Haas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata skor NGain kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,752 (kategori tinggi), dan kelas kontrol 0,453 (kategori sedang). Hasil uji paired sample t-test pada kelas eksperimen menghasilkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05, yang berarti terdapat peningkatan signifikan setelah perlakuan. Uji independent sample t-test juga menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05, mengindikasikan adanya perbedaan signifikan antara kedua kelas. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran berbasis proyek melalui karya seni relief berbahan clay terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kecerdasan visualspasial siswa sekolah dasar. Model ini dapat dijadikan alternatif pembelajaran dalam mata pelajaran seni rupa untuk mendukung pengembangan potensi visualspasial siswa secara optimal. ------ This research is motivated by the low visual-spatial intelligence of elementary school students due to the use of learning models that do not support the development of these abilities. To overcome this, this study applies the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model through clay relief art activities. The objectives of this study are to determine: (1) the effectiveness of the PjBL model in improving visual-spatial intelligence, (2) the improvement of visual-spatial abilities based on four indicators according to Haas, namely imagining, conceptualizing, problem solving, and pattern seeking, and (3) the difference in the improvement of visualspatial intelligence between students who follow the PjBL model and direct instruction. The research method used is a quasi-experimental with a pretestposttest non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 25 students in the experimental class and 24 students in the control class. The research instruments included a visual-spatial test, teacher observation sheets, and student work assessments based on Haas indicators. The results showed that the average N-Gain score of the experimental class was 0.752 (high category), and the control class was 0.453 (medium category). The paired sample t-test results in the experimental class yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant improvement after treatment. The independent sample t-test also showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0,05, indicating a significant difference between the two classes. Thus, the project-based learning model using clay relief artwork has proven effective in enhancing elementary school students' visual-spatial intelligence. This model can be used as an alternative learning method in fine arts subjects to optimally support the development of students' visual-spatial potential.
