Abstract

Kemampuan literasi sains siswa sangat bergantung pada faktor-faktor yang berhubungan langsung dengan proses pembelajaran, seperti sistem pendidikan yang digunakan, peran guru, pemilihan jenis model pembelajaran, metode, strategi pengajaran, gaya belajar siswa, serta penggunaan buku teks sebagai sumber belajar. Di antara berbagai faktor-faktor penting dalam proses pembelajaran, buku teks sebagai sumber belajar memainkan peran yang sangat signifikan dalam mempengaruhi literasi sains. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis relevansi buku teks IPAS fase B untuk mengembangkan literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar, yang mencakup kemampuan siswa dalam mengidentifikasi masalah atau fenomena ilmiah, memahami konsep-konsep sains, menerapkan konsep sains dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, menggunakan bukti ilmiah, serta menerapkan nilai dan sikap ilmiah dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis konten terhadap dua buku teks IPAS fase B, yaitu kelas III dan IV. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa buku teks fase B memperoleh skor rata-rata relevansi sebesar 73,33% yang termasuk dalam kategori cukup. Namun, dari segi penyajian konten pada buku yang merefleksikan indikator buku teks yang memuat literasi sains, belum terakomodasi secara optimal. Beberapa kelemahan ditemukan pada tidak adanya penyajian konten mengenai hukum, teori, belum dikenalkannya profesi di bidang sains dan teknologi, serta tersajinya kegiatan yang melibatkan perhitungan dan penyajian tabel maupun lembar kerja dalam buku siswa. Students’ scientific literacy skills are highly influenced by factors directly related to the learning process, such as the education system, the role of teachers, the choice of instructional models, teaching methods and strategies, students’ learning styles, and the use of textbooks as learning resources. Among these various factors, textbooks play a significant role in shaping students’ scientific literacy. This study aims to analyze the relevance of IPAS textbooks in enhancing scientific literacy of phase B elementary students, which includes students’ abilities to identify scientific problems or phenomena, understand scientific concepts, apply scientific concepts in life, use scientific evidence, and demonstrate scientific values and attitudes in daily decision-making and behavior. This research employed a qualitative approach with content analysis methods on two IPAS phase B textbooks, namely for grades III and IV. The results showed that the phase B textbooks obtained an average relevance score of 73,33%, which falls into the fair category. However, not all indicators of textbook scientific literacy are optimally accommodated in the presentation of content. Several shortcomings were identified, including the absence of content on scientific laws and theories, lack of exposure to technological professions, and the limited inclusion of activities involving calculation, data tables, and student worksheets in the textbooks.
