    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan spasial peserta didik fase B sekolah dasar dalam memahami letak wilayah, orientasi ruang, dan jarak. Hal ini disebabkan oleh penggunaan media pembelajaran konvensional yang kurang mampu memvisualisasikan konsep spasial secara konkret dan menarik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan media Google Earth dalam meningkatkan kemampuan spasial peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPAS, khususnya materi letak kota/kabupaten tempat tinggalnya. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental tipe one group pretest-posttest design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 25 peserta didik kelas IV di SDN Cisarua, Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes esai sebanyak 10 soal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai posttest peserta didik lebih tinggi dibandingkan nilai pretest, dengan N-Gain termasuk dalam kategori tinggi. Uji statistik juga menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil pretest dan posttest. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media Google Earth efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan spasial peserta didik fase B sekolah dasar. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi alternatif bagi guru dalam memilih media pembelajaran berbasis digital yang kontekstual dan interaktif. This research was motivated by the low spatial abilities of Phase B elementary school students in understanding regional location, spatial orientation, and distance. This issue stems from the use of conventional learning media that are less capable of visualizing spatial concepts in a concrete and engaging way. The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of using Google Earth as a learning medium to improve students’ spatial abilities in the IPAS subject, particularly in the topic of identifying the location of their city or regency. This study employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants consisted of 25 fourth-grade students at SDN Cisarua, West Bandung Regency. The instrument used was an essay test comprising 10 questions. The findings revealed that the average posttest scores were higher than the pretest scores, with the N-Gain categorized as high. Statistical tests also indicated a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. It can thus be concluded that the use of Google Earth is effective in enhancing the spatial abilities of Phase B elementary school students. These findings are expected to serve as an alternative for teachers in selecting contextual and interactive digital-based learning media.
